  • Patent number: 10084170
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide an absorptive glass mat (AGM) battery having a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a nonwoven fiber separator positioned between the electrodes. The separator includes a mixture of glass fibers having diameters between about 8 ?m to 13 ?m and glass fibers having diameters of at least 6 ?m and a silane sizing. An acid resistant binder bonds the glass fibers to form the separator. A wetting component is applied to the separator to increase the wettability such that the separator has or exhibits an average water wick height of at least 1.0 cm after exposure to water for 10 minutes. A conductive material is disposed on at least one surface of the separator such that when the separator is positioned adjacent an electrode, the conductive material contacts the electrode. An electrical resistance of less than 100,000 ohms per square enables electron flow about mat.

  • Patent number: 9650783
Abstract: A flame resistant laminate is described, which distinguishes itself by its low heating value ?3 MJ/kg according to ISO 1716 and thanks to its special multilayer structure has excellent mechanical characteristics and an extraordinarily good stability under changing climatic conditions (hot/humid/cold/dry). The laminate according to the invention comprises several mineral and glass fiber non-woven fabrics with different functionalities and components. This includes high-filled non-woven fabrics, B-stage binders and other additives. Its great mechanical strength as well as the extraordinarily good stability under changing climatic conditions (hot/humid/cold/dry) allow its reasonable use in many areas where until now exclusively laminates according to EN 438 are used and beyond.
