  • Publication number: 20220350585
Abstract: Provided are a computer program product, system, and method for applying a code update to a target system from a personal communication device. A code update command is received from a messaging application, executing on the personal communication device of the user, indicating a code update to install on the target system a code update maintained in the target system. The code update command is processed to extract indication of the code update to install and a target system user identifier of the target system on which to install the code update. At least one job is generated to install the code update on the target system. The at least one job is transmitted to the target system to cause the target system to process the at least one job to install the code update.

  • Patent number: 11221768
Abstract: A method for safely sharing access to a volume is disclosed. In one embodiment, such a method includes notifying a storage system that a volume on the storage system is in use by a first host system. The method stores, on the storage system, a first indicator indicating the volume is in use by the first host system. When the storage system receives an I/O request from a second host system to access data on the volume, the storage system reads the first indicator to determine that the volume is in use by the first host system. The storage system may then reject the I/O request from the second host system as a result of the first indicator. A corresponding system and computer program product are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8437066
Abstract: Method for preparing a purified crystal for use in an optical component, from an impure crystal having impurities or crystal defects capable of causing a specific absorption of incident light, includes heating the impure crystal to a temperature at which ions in the crystal are mobile and provide conductivity. A part of the crystal is illuminated with an electromagnetic purifying beam having a frequency in or near a visible frequency range so as to optically excite and migrate charges in the crystal, the charges being compensated by a counter-migration of the ions so as to be fixed in place thereafter so as to provide a purified crystal zone. The crystal is cooled to a future operating temperature.

  • Patent number: 7417563
Abstract: A method for determining the absolute value of a rotational angle includes imaging a continuous segment of a code track of a code carrier on a sensor array such that the sensor array generates a corresponding output signal. The code track includes a code provided over an angular range of 360°. The code contains a plurality of code words with each code word respectively corresponding to an angular value in the angular range. The output signal is correlated with a reference signal in a correlation filter to produce a correlation function signal. The reference signal is indicative of the code and the angular values corresponding to the code words. The correlation function signal is processed to determine the code word of the imaged segment of the code track as a function of the angular value where the output signal best coincides with the reference signal.

  • Patent number: 7397394
Abstract: A method for determining the absolute value of a rotational angle includes imaging a continuous segment of a code track of a code carrier on a sensor array such that the sensor array generates a corresponding output signal. The code track has a light and dark transition pattern over an angular range of 360°. The sensor array output signal is subjected to a convolution operation with a reference signal in a first correlation filter to reconstruct the light and dark transition pattern of the imaged segment of the code track as a first correlation function signal. The first correlation function signal is processed to determine a code word and a predetermined angle corresponding to the code word.

  • Patent number: 7345597
Abstract: A method for determining absolute value of a rotational angle includes imaging a segment of a code track onto a sensor such that the sensor generates a corresponding output signal. The track includes a code in the form of a light and dark transition pattern over an angular range. The code contains code words with each code word corresponding to a respective angular value. The code word of the imaged segment is determined from the position of the transitions in the output signal to determine the angular value of the imaged segment. The position of the transitions in the output signal is compared with a reference curve to determine position deviations between the output signal and the reference signal. The reference curve represents the transitions expected in the output signal in the absence of unwanted mechanical influences. The unwanted mechanical influences are determined as a function of the determined deviations.

  • Patent number: 6541962
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for detecting the angle position of the steering wheel of a motor vehicle. The aim of the invention is to provide a device of this kind in which the technical problem of determining the absolute angle position of the steering wheel in a measuring range greater than 360° is solved without the need for mechanical reduction gears and such like. This is achieved by means of a measurement system comprising at least one coil system which cooperates with an electrically conductive structure configured on/in a flexible flat cable (6). The flexible flat cable (6) is wound in a winding gap situated between the outer lateral surface (3) of an inner cylindrical rotor (1) joined to the steering gear shaft and the inner lateral surface (4) of an outer cylindrical stator (2) joined to the steering column, in such a way that its one end is fixed to the rotor (1) and its other to the stator (2).
