  • Patent number: 9799955
Abstract: A ferrite controller includes a single array of two or more ferrite control elements. The ferrite control elements each include a radio frequency (RF) path assembly that includes a RF path ferrite element and a RF path dielectric element. The ferrite control elements also include a magnetizing ferrite assembly that includes a magnetizing ferrite element; one or more structural dielectric elements; and a flexible insulated waveguide wall. The magnetizing ferrite element is attached to the one or more structural dielectric elements, wherein the flexible insulated waveguide wall surrounds the magnetizing ferrite element and the structural dielectric elements, wherein the RF path ferrite element and the magnetizing ferrite element are attached to form a ferrite toroid. The ferrite control elements also include two tapered impedance matching transformers attached to the RF path assembly and the magnetizing ferrite assembly.

  • Publication number: 20070152143
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for determining the absolute value of a rotational angle, in particular the angular position of a motor vehicle steering wheel, by means of a transceiver comprising a light source and a sensor array having a plurality of optoelectronic transducers, and a code disk arranged so that it can rotate with respect to it that has a code track representing a unique, sequential encoding of the angular values, a continuous segment of the code track being imaged on the sensor array, and the output signal of the sensor array being evaluated to determine a code word corresponding to an angular value. This invention has the goal of further developing such a process to make it possible to determine the influences due to mechanical tolerances, in particular for the purpose of subsequent compensation, and to do so without additional hardware expenditure.

  • Publication number: 20070030546
Abstract: A method for determining the absolute value of a rotational angle includes imaging a continuous segment of a code track of a code carrier on a sensor array such that the sensor array generates a corresponding output signal. The code track includes a code provided over an angular range of 360°. The code contains a plurality of code words with each code word respectively corresponding to an angular value in the angular range. The output signal is correlated with a reference signal in a correlation filter to produce a correlation function signal. The reference signal is indicative of the code and the angular values corresponding to the code words. The correlation function signal is processed to determine the code word of the imaged segment of the code track as a function of the angular value where the output signal best coincides with the reference signal.

  • Publication number: 20070030545
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for determining the absolute value of a rotational angle, in particular the angular position of a motor vehicle steering wheel, by means of a transceiver comprising a light source and a sensor array having a multiplicity of optoelectronic transducers, and a code carrier arranged so that it can rotate with respect to it that has a unique, single-track encoding of the angular values, a continuous segment of the encoding being imaged on the sensor array, and the sensor array's output signal being evaluated to determine a code word corresponding to the current angular value. This invention has the goal of further developing such a process so as to achieve clearly increased insensitivity to outside influences, especially those caused by dirt or spurious electromagnetic pulses. This is achieved in a first correlation filter by subjecting the sensor array's output signal to a convolution operation with a reference signal to reconstruct the imaged segment of the code track.

  • Publication number: 20060011048
Abstract: A new musical instrument comprises a thin solid or semi-hollow body and a triangular or trapezoidal frame across which a plurality of strings are disposed in the manner of harps. The instrument has frets, which allows the player a unique form of expression not available on harps. The instrument is small and light enough to be carried or held with a shoulder strap while being played, offering the player greater mobility. The instrument may additionally have built-in special effects that may be controlled by an expression control device or lever, offering the player even greater expression and mobility. The instrument also may have a special built-in hum and noise canceling preamplifier to improve the quality of the output signal. Certain additional design improvements and conveniences are provided for better playability and practicality.

  • Publication number: 20050120182
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a system that facilitates cache coherence with adaptive write updates. During operation, a cache is initialized to operate using a write-invalidate protocol. During program execution, the system monitors the dynamic behavior of the cache. If the dynamic behavior indicates that better performance can be achieved using a write-broadcast protocol, the system switches the cache to operate using the write-broadcast protocol.
