  • Publication number: 20100167033
Abstract: Disclosed is an at least partly crosslinked coating (K) composed of a near-surface coating zone (K1) and a volume coating zone (K2), the coating obtained from a composition comprising at least two different crosslinkable components (D1) and (D2), at least part of component (D1) having one or more surface-active structural units, wherein (i) the coating both in zone (K1) and in zone (K2) is at least partly crosslinked, and (ii) the crosslinking density of the coating in zone (K1) is higher than the crosslinking density of the coating in zone (K2). Also disclosed are coatings (K) wherein the concentration of component (D1) in the near-surface coating zone (K1) is higher than in the volume coating zone (K2), and the micropenetration hardness and/or the dry scratch resistance of the coating (K) is higher than that of an at least partly crosslinked coating (K?) obtained from a composition with no crosslinkable component (D1).
    Type: Application

  • Publication number: 20080057207
Abstract: A coating material comprising (A) at least 50% by weight, based on the amount of nonvolatile substances in the coating material, of at least one compound (A1) and/or (A1?) containing at least two reactive groups of the formula I —X—SiR?x(OR?)3-x??(I) where R?=hydrogen, alkyl or cycloalkyl, the carbon chain being uninterrupted or interrupted by nonadjacent oxygen, sulfur or NRa groups, where Ra alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl, X=linear and/or branched alkylene or cycloalkylene radical having 2 to 20 carbon atoms, R?=alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl, the carbon chain being uninterrupted or interrupted by nonadjacent oxygen, sulfur or NRa groups, and x=0 to 2, (B) a catalyst for the crosslinking of the —Si(OR?)3-x units, and (C) an organic solvent or a mixture of organic solvents, the reactive groups (I) being crosslinked, in the course of curing of the coating material, such that nanoindentation testing on the cured coat results in the following properties: a. elastic volume recovery >86.5%, b.
