Patent number: 8677551Abstract: A size-adjustable windshield wiper assembly includes a flexible vertebra, a wiper strip, and a curved spline. The flexible vertebra has scores on an upper side of the flexible vertebra for enabling a user to size the flexible vertebra to a desired size. The wiper strip may include grooves for connecting the wiper strip to the flexible vertebra. The curved spline is inserted into a cavity between the underside of the flexible vertebra and the wiper strip, thereby causing the flexible vertebra to form a curve shape such that the wiper strip is capable of closely hugging a surface of a windshield.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 2010Date of Patent: March 25, 2014Inventors: Anthony Guastella, Ryan J. Thomas, Ronald C. Roberts, Michael L. Hyer

Publication number: 20120297567Abstract: A windscreen wiper includes a wiping element having a head portion and a wiping portion. The wiping portion of the wiping element includes a wiping head and a wiping tip extending from the wiping head. The wiping head has in cross-section a pair of upper legs and a pair of lower legs, the upper legs and the lower legs sized and arranged such that the upper legs and the lower legs form a deltoid shape. The upper legs and the lower legs further define a deltoid-shaped channel disposed within the wiping head.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 26, 2012Publication date: November 29, 2012Inventor: Michael L. Patent number: 7063039Abstract: A trailer position indicator having a trailer attachment member, a boom arm, and a guidance member is provided. The trailer attachment member is configured to be attached to a cross member of a boat trailer. The boom arm is pivotally connected at a lower end to the trailer attachment member, and the guidance member is connected to the upper end of the boom arm. A torsion spring is operably connected to the boom arm and trailer attachment member to bias the boom arm toward an extended position, yet allow the boom arm to be pushed to a stowed position as a boat is loaded on the trailer. A bracket protector is attached to the trailer attachment member and a protective sleeve is disposed on the boom arm for protecting the boat during loading and unloading.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 2004Date of Patent: June 20, 2006Assignee: M Management-Tex, Ltd.Inventors: Blair Emerson, Michael L. Hyer

Patent number: 6112417Abstract: A hand operated trimmer for trimming an edge of vinyl, carpet or the like being installed on a floor so that the cut edge of the floor covering will lie closely against an adjacent wall. The trimmer comprises an elongate base member and an integral cutting blade. The base member has a generally triangularly shaped cross section, with two of the elongate external surfaces of the base member meeting at a right angle, and the elongate external surface opposite the right angle being a concave surface. The cutting blade is mounted closely adjacent the concave surface and in a substantially perpendicular relationship thereto. Pressure applying rollers are spaced a slight distance from the concave surface so as to define a vinyl-receiving entry location for a vinyl sheet to pass in a longitudinal direction along the concave surface, with the pressure applying rollers serving to keep the vinyl sheet in close contact with the concave surface.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 1998Date of Patent: September 5, 2000Inventors: Michael L. Patent number: 5283927Abstract: A windshield wiper blade capable of inexpensive manufacture and having good wipe quality comprises approximately 100 parts by weight of a vulcanizable elastomer including at least one silicone polymer, and about 75 to 220 parts by weight of a siliceous filler dispersed in the elastomer. The siliceous filler preferably includes a substantial portion of particles having a relatively large diameter in the range of 5 to 100 microns in order to lower the coefficient of friction of the wiper blade with respect to automotive windshield glass.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 1991Date of Patent: February 8, 1994Assignee: JMK International, Inc.Inventors: Robert M. Gibbon, Michael L. Hyer

Patent number: 5150884Abstract: A portable carpet stretching device [in accordance with this invention enables] enabling a user to stretch carpeting at an angle into engagement with a tack strip affixed along the base of an adjacent wall, thus to eliminate wrinkles. This device comprises a carpet-engaging head member and a relatively fixed base member. The front of the base member is attached by an extensible member to the rear of the head member, and pivotally connected anchoring means are utilized for securing the base member in a desired relationship to the adjacent wall. Power applying means enable the user to force the head member and the base member apart, so the anchoring of the base member with respect to the adjacent wall by the anchoring means results at the time of application of the power means, in the portion of the carpet engaged by the head member being forced toward the adjacent wall and into contact with the tack strip.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 1990Date of Patent: September 29, 1992Inventors: Raymond E. Hyer, Michael L. Hyer

Patent number: 4991352Abstract: A door gasket is shown for sealing between confronting surfaces. The gasket has a base for mounting to one confronting surface and a deforming section which protrudes outwardly for contacting the second surface. A wire extends through the base parallel to the axis of the gasket member. The deforming section includes a bottom wall, a vertical wall and a slanting wall which are integrally formed with the base and interconnected to define a right triangular exterior which produces improved sealing characteristics.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 1990Date of Patent: February 12, 1991Assignee: JMK International, Inc.Inventor: Michael L. Hyer

Patent number: 4981637Abstract: A method is shown for forming a wiper blade in which a continuous length of elastomer is extruded through a die having a die opening shaped to produce a pair of wiper blades joined in edge-to-edge relation. The elastomer is preformed to produce a weakened mid- section and then cured. The cured elastomer is then separated into two separate lengths of wiper blade by pulling the length of continuous elastomer along the weakened mid-section.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 1989Date of Patent: January 1, 1991Assignee: JMK International, Inc.Inventor: Michael L. Hyer

Patent number: 4904434Abstract: A method is shown for forming a wiper blade in which a continuous length of elastomer is extruded through a die having a die opening shaped to produce a pair of wiper blades joined in edge-to-edge relation. The elastomer is scored in the mid-section thereof to produce a score line and then cured. The scored and cured elastomer is then separated into two separate lengths of wiper blade by dividing the length of continuous elastomer along the score line.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1988Date of Patent: February 27, 1990Assignee: JMK International, Inc.Inventor: Michael L.
