  • Publication number: 20160287461
Abstract: A surgical table includes a combination footboard and patient transfer board to facilitate more efficient handling of a patient undergoing procedures requiring movement of the patient's lower body toward a perineal cutout portion of the table, and to facilitate more efficient movement of the patient to and from the surgical table. The combination board may be oriented horizontally or vertically and secured to the surgical table by multi-angular rail locks. The combination board includes a frame, a pad, and a pair of extension members secured to a common side of the board. The invention also includes a method of supporting a patient that is transported from a first location to a second location on the surgical table utilizing the combination board.

  • Patent number: 6715904
Abstract: A light handle of an illuminating light is provided which produces a directed beam of light in order to precisely orient and align the illuminating light on a work area. Preferably, a laser producing light source is incorporated within the handle housing, and the directed beam of laser light projects from the distal end of the light handle. The laser light source may be battery powered, or may be powered by a solar panel mounted to the light handle; the illuminating light providing sufficient light to power the solar panel. To maintain sterility in a surgical environment, a light handle cover may be mounted to the light handle. For non-sterile applications, the light handle may simply be attached to the illuminating light without the light handle cover.

  • Patent number: 6062912
Abstract: An antenna coupling system including an antenna stem (108) with a raised wall (206) having an opening (210) therethrough and defining a plurality of key receptacles (216, 218, 220, 222) and detents (224, 410, 412) coupled to an antenna latch detent mechanism (102) that provides a manner of maintaining a SSU antenna (106) in a stowed position and two deployed positions with respect to the SSU handset (100). The antenna coupling system further includes an antenna connector (110) and a handset connector (104) wherein rotation of the antenna connector (110) with respect to the handset connector (104) maintains a robust RF connection and notifies circuitry in the handset (100) when the antenna (106) is in one of two deployed positions.

  • Patent number: 5490716
Abstract: An improved surgeon's chair is disclosed providing adjustable bodily support to a seated surgeon to prevent inadvertent fatigue, and a design enabling access to the chair without compromising the sterility of the surrounding operating area. The chair includes a frame assembly that supports both a seat assembly and a dual pivoting support having a plurality of body pads. A lifting mechanism attached to the seat assembly allows the seat assembly to be positioned at the desired vertical height. A knee rest assembly connected to the frame assembly provides support to the knees and shins of the surgeon. The dual pivoting support includes upper and lower sections that are independently rotatable and which rotate around respective laterally spaced vertical axes. The lower rotational section allows the body pads to be selectively positioned according to the girth and comfort of the surgeon.
