  • Patent number: 10815718
Abstract: An overhead bi-fold door mounted on a freestanding header has a door lift device with polymer cylindroids and capstans operated with an electric motor driven power transmission to selectively move the bi-fold door from an upright closed position to a folded open position and allow the bi-fold door to move from the folded open position to the upright closed position. Anchors mounted on the bi-fold door adjust the working length of the cylindroids between the capstans and anchors. The capstans have laterally spaced disks engageable with the cylindroids during the helical winding and unwinding of the cylindroid on the capstans as the bi-fold door moves at an increasing rate of speed from the upright closed to folded open positions and a decreasing rate of speed from the folded open to upright closed positions.

  • Patent number: 10815711
Abstract: A latch assembly connected to the drive unit of a bi-fold door retains the bi-fold door in engagement with upright columns of a building with elongated straps attached to the upright columns and rotatable latch drums mounted on a drive shaft of a drive unit. Lift devices powered by the drive unit raise and lower the bi-fold door. Latch assemblies include springs that maintain tension on the straps during the opening and closing of the bi-fold door.

  • Publication number: 20200256105
Abstract: A latch assembly connected to the drive unit of a bi-fold door for retaining the bi-fold door secure to a building has elongated straps attached to rotatable latch drums mounted on the outer ends of the drive shaft of the drive unit. Lift drums powered by a motor driven gearbox raise and lower the bi-fold door. Latch assemblies having springs attached to the straps maintain tension on the straps during the opening and closing of the bi-fold door.

  • Patent number: 10669771
Abstract: A frame assembly supporting an overhead door has a horizontal header connected to upright columns or posts with splice assemblies. Fasteners mounted on the columns cooperate with retainers on the splice assemblies to position and connect the columns to the header. Hinge assemblies pivotally mount the door on the header for movement between open and closed positions.

Abstract: A frame assembly supporting an overhead door has a horizontal header connected to upright columns or posts with splice assemblies. Fasteners mounted on the columns cooperate with retainers on the splice assemblies to position and connect the columns to the header. Hinges pivotally mount the door on the header for movement between open and closed positions. Linear actuators connected to the frame assembly and door are operable to move the door between door open and door closed positions.

  • Patent number: 10184285
Abstract: A bi-fold door is opened with a lift assembly having a plurality of straps attached to power driven lift drums. A latch assembly retains the closed bi-fold door secure to side columns of a building. The latch assembly has a latch strap attached to a latch drum that accommodates the latch strap to hold the closed bi-fold door in contact with the side columns of the building. A floor anchor assembly anchors the bottom of the closed bi-fold door to the floor below the closed bi-fold door to stabilize and inhibit bending and deformation of the bi-fold door frame.
