  • Publication number: 20170310765
Abstract: A system and method for location-based document processing device selection includes a device including a processor, memory and a network interface. The device is configured for data communication with a plurality of identifiable multifunction peripherals. The memory stores contact data mapping each multifunction peripheral to at least one designated contact. The device is further configured to receive status data from each of the multifunction peripherals and to store received status data in the memory. An analytical engine calculates list data from stored status data. The device selectively generates alerts corresponding to identified multifunction peripherals in accordance with an analysis of the list data. The device communicates the alerts to at least one designated contact in accordance with each identified multifunction peripheral and the contact data. The system thus supplies users, such as print users or service technicians, listings or mappings of proximate devices for use or servicing.

  • Publication number: 20170310751
Abstract: A document processing system includes an embedded controller that has both a local area network interface for receiving documents over an associated network and a wireless personal area network interface for communicating with mobile computing devices using BLUETOOTH low power communications. The embedded controller transmits broadcasts message to nearby mobile computing devices that send responses to the broadcast messages. Based on the RSSI of a received response, the embedded controller can determines whether a particular mobile computing device is in close proximity, indicating that a user is present at the document processing system. The embedded controller sends identification data associated with the document processing system to the mobile computing device.

  • Patent number: 9712696
Abstract: An on-screen document management system and method includes a document processing device configured to receive touch commands on a touch capable display screen from a user. The user can select one or more portions of an existing document and place the desired selections into a new document. The portions can be resized and placed in the new document in accordance with the desires of the user. The new document is rendered with the selected portion or portions, and then displayed on the display screen as the new document would be output. The new document can be output using a document processing operation such as printing, faxing, emailing, or storing to an external server.

  • Publication number: 20170186020
Abstract: A system and method for monitoring document processing device operations, gauging corresponding cost, including monetary or environmental cost, and facilitating review of actual and projected costs associated with usage levels. The system receives usage data corresponding to metered use of an associated networked document processing device by each of a plurality of users. Memory associated with the processor stores received usage data and stores relationship data corresponding to a relationship between usage data and data corresponding to an associated environmental impact. The processor applies relationship data to usage data to compute environmental impact data representative of an environmental impact corresponding to the usage data. The display then generates an image corresponding to the environmental impact data. An administrator is enabled to view historic or projected costs and manage quotas accordingly.

  • Publication number: 20110173445
Abstract: The subject application is directed to a system and method for automated application of security levels to electronic documents. 1). Text data associated with text content of each of a plurality of stored electronic documents is stored in a data storage, each of the stored electronic documents having a security level associated therewith. An electronic document inclusive of text data comprising a plurality of text strings is received, and the text strings are compared with text data in at least one of the stored electronic documents. A security level is assigned to the received electronic document at a level associated with a stored electronic document in accordance with an output of the comparison. OR 2). Electronic documents are received and keyword data is extracted to generate an index file associated with each electronic document. The index file is then stored in association with its respective electronic document in an associated data storage.

  • Publication number: 20100049784
Abstract: The subject application is directed to a security system and method for web-based access relative to a document processing device. Safe site data corresponding to a plurality of acceptable data addresses is stored in a data storage. A plurality of web pages is generated via an associated web server. Each address referenced within each of the plurality of web pages is identified and tested against the safe site data. An alarm is generated when an output of the testing indicates at least one identified address that is not associated with safe site data in accordance with an output of the testing. The web page output is enabled by the web server to a thin client when an output of the testing indicates that each identified address is associated with safe data.

  • Publication number: 20100046019
Abstract: The subject application is directed to a system and method for administered document processing device cloning. Selection data is received identifying a selected one of a plurality of networked document processing devices. A configuration data query is generated from an administrative workstation to the selected document processing device via an associated data network. Configuration data is received from the selected document processing device via the data network and is stored in an associated storage. Each of the target document processing devices is sequentially selected, and received configuration data is communicated from the storage to each target document processing device via the data network. An update signal is output to commence a configuration update of each target document processing device in accordance with received configuration data communicated thereto, and status data is received from each target document processing device corresponding to a configuration update thereon.
