  • Patent number: 11944049
Abstract: A vertical farming structure having vertical grow towers and associated conveyance mechanisms for moving the vertical grow towers through a controlled environment, while being exposed to controlled conditions, such as lighting, airflow, humidity and nutritional support. The present disclosure describes a reciprocating cam mechanism that provides a cost-efficient mechanism for conveying vertical grow towers in the controlled environment. The reciprocating cam mechanism can be arranged to increase the spacing of the grow towers as they are conveyed through the controlled environment to index the crops growing on the towers. The present disclosure also describes a tower shuttle mechanism that provides operational flexibility by decoupling the loading and unloading operations of the grow towers from the vertical farming structure and, therefore, allowing multiple grow towers to be extracted for harvesting in a batch process before loading new grow towers into the vertical farming structure in a separate process.

  • Patent number: 10936432
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer-readable media for implementing a fault-tolerant parallel computation framework are disclosed. Execution of an application comprises execution of a plurality of processes in parallel. Process states for the processes are stored during the execution of the application. The processes use a message passing interface for exchanging messages with one other. The messages are exchanged and the process states are stored at a plurality of checkpoints during execution of the application. A final successful checkpoint is determined after the execution of the application is terminated. The final successful checkpoint represents the most recent checkpoint at which the processes exchanged messages successfully. Execution of the application is resumed from the final successful checkpoint using the process states stored at the final successful checkpoint.

  • Patent number: 10846096
Abstract: Memory management is provided for processors, such as GPUs used to process data using a trained machine learning model. Requests received to a CPU can be stored to a request queue until the queue is full, or until a timeout value has been reached for periods of lower activity. The requests can then be batched and sent to a GPU as a single message on a single thread. Memory can be pre-allocated, and the trained model loaded into GPU memory once for processing of the relevant batches. The individual requests can be processed by the GPU and the results analyzed to determine at least a subset of results to return to the CPU, which can be provided back as results of the processing.

  • Patent number: 10720277
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for a ferrite arrangement that mitigates dimensional-tolerance effects on performance of a wireless charging pad, such as a WEVC pad. These systems and methods include a power-transfer structure having ferrite bars arranged to form ferrite strips in a staggered pattern to provide a path for magnetic flux induced by a magnetic field. The staggered pattern includes a series of ferrite strips that alternate defined starting-point locations at opposing sides of the power-transfer structure. Ending-point locations of the ferrite strips are not defined, but are based on an accumulation of lengthwise dimensional tolerances of the ferrite bars used to form the ferrite strips. Using the staggered pattern in a base power-transfer structure defines a coupling range for coupling with a vehicle power-transfer structure and a range limit for associated magnetic field emissions by the base power-transfer structure.
