  • Patent number: 5791590
Abstract: A reel design is provided which can be easily manufactured as blanks, efficiently stored, quickly assembled and disassembled, and compatible for use in a clean room. The reel is preferably formed from corrugated plastic and comprises two planar flanges, each formed with a plurality of grooves, and a hub secured therebetween, with a corresponding number of tabs integrally formed with the hub and capable of cooperative engagement with the grooves. The hub may be formed to define any diameter and either a cylindric or polygonal profile. Also, the flanges may be formed with grooves circumferentially disposed about the flanges at different locations to accommodate hubs of varying hub diameters.
