Abstract: For culturing a plant so as to have a dwaft habit the plant is placed in cavity inside a pot made of porous material, as for example clay. The plant pot is placed in an outer vessel, preferably with a gap therebetween for water or nutrient solution. Slot-like blind channels extend horizontally into the side wall of the plant pot and/or downwards into the bottom thereof. These channels serve as traps for roots of the tangled mass of roots in the cavity so that the growth of such roots is halted and they only put out root hairs in the channels.
