  • Patent number: 4098722
Abstract: The method comprises the steps of: forming one or more sheets of material in a single sheet of material with at least one generally planar region and at least one region of first corrugations. Second corrugations which are smaller than the first corrugations are then superimposed on the, or each, generally planar region and the, or each, corrugated region. The generally planar region, or regions are then laid onto the region, or regions that are provided with the first corrugations.

Assignee: United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority
Inventors: James Anthony Cairns, Michael Lesney Noakes
  • Patent number: 3992330
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a body having channels extending through it and a body so formed. The method comprises the steps of working a single strip of material to provide corrugations the crests and valleys of which extend in a direction across the strip. The strip is then folded about an axis which lies at an angle to the crests of the corrugations in order to form layers each having the crests of the corrugations angled to, and lying across the crests of the corrugations of an adjacent layer or adjacent layers.

Date of Patent: November 16, 1976
Assignee: United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority
Inventors: Michael Lesney Noakes, Wilfred George Caesar, Henry Lloyd
  • Patent number: 3966646
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a body comprising the steps of forming a single strip of material with at least one plain region and at least one region of protrusions, such as corrugations, bumps or ridges. The single strip of material is then laid on itself in a manner so as to provide two or more layers of the material and locate a plain region of one layer alongside a region of protrusions of an adjacent layer. The laying step may be accomplished by winding the strip into a coil.
