Publication number: 20230115712Abstract: Data indicative of a line of sight to a target is obtained from a sensor mounted on an aircraft. Data indicative of an orientation of the aircraft relative to the Earth is obtained from a navigation system associated with the aircraft. An expression is generated that couples a first variable indicative of misalignment of an orientation of the sensor and the orientation of the aircraft and a second variable indicative of the location of the target relative to the Earth. The first variable and second variable are determined using the data indicative of the line of sight from the sensor to the target and the expression coupling the first variable and the second variable. The misalignment of the orientation of the sensor and the orientation of the aircraft is compensated for using the first variable. The location of the target relative to the Earth is determined using the second variable.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 7, 2021Publication date: April 13, 2023Inventors: Michael Thomas GRABBE, Michael Lindsey MAHAFFEY, Michael Duane SAPP, Brian Joseph HOLDEN

Patent number: 7853646Abstract: A method and system for validating calling parameters of a method call. Validation conditions are evaluated utilizing original calling parameters provided by a validation method call by a client, where the call is required to initiate an activity. The evaluating facilitates determining messages to be provided to a user, where the messages are associated with consequences of continuing the activity. A validation object having data structures is created. The data structures include the validation conditions and the original calling parameters. The validation object is sent to the client to facilitate receipt of the messages by the user. The calling parameters are extracted from the validation object to facilitate completing the activity with a set of calling parameters matching the original calling parameters.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 2006Date of Patent: December 14, 2010Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Amanda S. Black, Steven Lee Martin, Christopher Ian Schmidt, Michael Lindsey Williams

Publication number: 20060183576Abstract: An electronic recording device that has an impact-activated playback function and a body adapted to allow the device sustained repeated physical impacts without damage to its internal components. In operation, a user records a message and then puts the device in motion by, for example, throwing or dropping it. The device plays back the message automatically upon impacting something. The message can any suitable type of recordable content, including audio content such a voice, music, noise, or any other sound and/or visual content, such as graphics, images, video or the like.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 16, 2005Publication date: August 17, 2006Inventors: Michael Lindsey, Stephen Pearson

Publication number: 20060150016Abstract: An electronic system comprising a system to be monitored (2) and a plurality of fault-monitoring systems (4, 6) each of which is adapted to output a fault signal when an input indicates that the electronic system is in a fault condition associated with the fault-monitoring system. The fault-monitoring systems are arranged in a cascade fashion such that a fault signal output from one fault-monitoring system (4) is provided as an input to a subsequent fault-monitoring system (6) in the cascade of fault-monitoring systems to simulate a fault condition associated with the subsequent fault-monitoring system. The output of the final fault-monitoring system in the cascade gives an indication of whether there is a fault with any of the fault-monitoring systems.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 18, 2003Publication date: July 6, 2006Inventors: Peter Miller, Andrew Charles Smith, Michael Lindsey

Publication number: 20050071983Abstract: A picket fence and rail mounting system that is easily transformable by the consumer into a variety of aesthetic styles is provided. The system comprises at least an upper and a lower elongate rail. Each rail has a hollow interior defining a substantially I-shaped cross-section including at least a first slot and a second slot. A plurality of pickets are transversely slidable through openings in an upper surface of the rails and a channel in a lower surface. The pickets each have at least a first notch or indentation near a first end and a second notch or indentation near a second end. The distance from the first end to the first notch or indentation is preferably shorter than the distance from the second end to the second notch or indentation. An elongate retaining rod slidable within at least one rail cooperates with a notch or indentation on each picket to secure the picket to the rail.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 24, 2004Publication date: April 7, 2005Inventors: Charles Larsen, Michael Lindsey

Patent number: 6530561Abstract: A metal fence post for use with a wooden fence. The fence post has a U-shaped center section positioned between two flanges, and each of the flanges includes a plurality of holes extending along an edge. The fence post can be used as a line post, comer post or end post. In one form, the thickness of the sides of the U-shaped center section is about the same as the thickness of the wooden fence rails so that the fence posts are positioned in-line with the fence rails. The fence posts allow the fence boards to be attached to either or both sides of the rails. In another form, the center section has very closely spaced, but longer legs. That provides increased strength allowing thinner gauge material.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 2000Date of Patent: March 11, 2003Assignee: Master-Halco, Inc.Inventors: Charlie Larsen, Michael Lindsey, Jerry L. Patent number: 6499053Abstract: A chat system includes a chat server and a plurality of chat clients in a network that may be bandwidth constrained. Each chat client is configurable, in response to instructions from the chat server, to operate in either a master mode or a slave mode. In the master mode, a chat client is capable of initiating a chat session. In the slave mode, a chat client is incapable of initiating a chat session and may participate only in a chat session initiated by another chat client operating in the master mode. An invitor user initiates, or adds a member to, a chat session by sending an invitation to an invitee user name at a proxy address at the chat server. If the chat server determines that the invitee is logged on, the chat server forwards the invitation to the invitee at the invitee's network address.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 1999Date of Patent: December 24, 2002Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Brian N. Patent number: 6438548Abstract: A system for managing documents in a distributed computing environment, which may be bandwidth limited, includes a document locker server and a document locker client. The document locker client monitors user interaction with a version of a document locally replicated from a document server. Whenever the user attempts interaction with the document, such as editing or performing a workflow action, which would change said document, the document locker client requests a lock for the document from the document locker server. The document locker server grants a lock if the document is not already locked by another user and the document locally replicated is the latest version of the document. The document locker client allows the user to perform the operation if a lock is received, without having to replicate a version of the document to the local host.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 1999Date of Patent: August 20, 2002Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Clifton E. Patent number: 6173945Abstract: The present invention includes an improved metal fence post for use with a wooden fence. The fence post has a U-shaped center section positioned between two flanges, and each of the flanges includes a plurality of holes extending along an edge. The fence post can be used as a line post, corner post or end post. Preferably, the thickness of the sides of the U-shaped center section is about the same as the thickness of the wooden fence rails so that the fence posts are positioned in-line with the fence rails. Advantageously, the fence posts allow the fence boards to be attached to either or both sides of the rails.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 1998Date of Patent: January 16, 2001Assignee: Master-Halco, Inc.Inventors: Michael Lindsey, Charlie Larsen, Jerry L.
