  • Publication number: 20250067935
Abstract: In some implementations, an optical component includes an optical fiber having a core for guiding signal light and a cladding surrounding the core. A cladding light stripper may be defined for the optical fiber, where the cladding light stripper has a length along the cladding. The optical component may include a package, retaining the cladding light stripper, having a surface that faces the cladding light stripper. A light reflectivity of the surface may vary, by surface location, to control a degree of light absorption along the package.

  • Publication number: 20250044522
Abstract: In some implementations, an apparatus for aligning multiple fibers may comprise a lattice structure that comprises a plurality of tensioned elements to provide a deformable support framework to simultaneously position a plurality of optical fibers such that the plurality of optical fibers is elastically constrained in a first axis and a second axis. The apparatus may further comprise an array that comprises a plurality of micro-jaw structures passing through the lattice structure. In some implementations, each micro-jaw structure in the array of micro-jaw structures is adjustable to shift one or more positions of one or more optical fibers included among the plurality of optical fibers relative to one or more cores of a multi-core optical fiber.

  • Publication number: 20250004195
Abstract: In some implementations, a cladding light stripper includes an optical fiber that includes a core and an exterior cladding, and a light removal component. The exterior cladding of the optical fiber circumferentially surrounds the core of the optical fiber. The exterior cladding includes a first portion, a second portion, and an intermediate portion disposed between the first portion and the second portion. The intermediate portion is bidirectionally tapered. The light removal component is disposed on one or more regions of a central section of the intermediate portion.

  • Publication number: 20210265801
Abstract: An optical fiber may include a core in which core-guided light generated by one or more light sources propagates along a length of the at least one optical fiber, one or more claddings, surrounding the core, to guide cladding-guided light generated by the one or more light sources along the length of the at least one optical fiber, and a reflector structure machined into the at least one optical fiber. The reflector structure may include multiple angled facets arranged at one or more respective angles relative to an axis of the optical fiber to reflect at least a portion of the core-guided light and/or the cladding-guided light passing through the optical fiber.

  • Publication number: 20210231872
Abstract: An optical fiber endcap device may include an input facet spliced onto an input fiber and an output end through which counterpropagating light enters the optical fiber endcap device. The optical fiber endcap device further includes a plurality of angled facets that are arranged at respective angles relative to an axis of the optical fiber endcap device to reflect at least a portion of the counterpropagating light back through the output end of the optical fiber endcap device.

  • Publication number: 20210199896
Abstract: An optical device may comprise an optical element holder that holds an optical element in an internal portion of the optical element holder, wherein the optical element holder includes a protruding feature with a contact portion that holds the optical element in the internal portion of the optical element holder. The optical device may additionally comprise the optical element, wherein an edge of the optical element includes a chamfered portion that contacts the contact portion of the protruding feature of the optical element holder to allow the protruding feature of the optical element holder to hold the optical element in the internal portion of the optical element holder.
