  • Patent number: 8252208
Abstract: The invention is directed to calcium fluoride crystal optics with improved laser durability that can be used for the transmission of below 250 nanometer (nm) electromagnetic radiation. The optics consist of CaF2 as the major component and, in one embodiment, at least one dopant/amount selected >0.3-1200 ppm Mg, >0.3-200 ppm Sr, >0.3-200 ppm Ba, while Ce and Mn are <0.5 ppm. The doped crystal and optics made therefrom have a ratio of 515/380 nm transmission loss of less than 0.3 after exposure to greater than 2.8 MRads of ?-radiation.

  • Publication number: 20120026473
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to improved silica-titania glass articles intended for use in EUV or other high energy reflective optic systems, and to a process for producing such improved silica-titania articles. The improved silica-titania glass articles provide a more stable surface for the coatings that are used in the making of reflective optical elements for EUV applications. The stable surface is provided by densification of at least one face of the silica-titania article, the densification being accomplished by the use accelerated ions, neutrons, electrons and photons (?-ray, X-ray or DUV lasers). After densification, the densified face of the silica-titania article can be coated with a multilayer reflective coating.

  • Patent number: 8062812
Abstract: An image mask and image mask assembly. The image mask includes a glass substrate having a thickness of less than 2 mm and a patterned mask disposed on a surface of the glass substrate. The image mask assembly includes a transparent backer plate coupled to the glass substrate. Methods of writing a pattern on a glass sheet and writing a master pattern into a layer comprising a mask material are also provided.

    Assignee: Corning Incorporated
Inventors: Jeffrey Mathew Clark, Michael Lucien Genier, Windsor P Thomas
  • Patent number: 7732359
Abstract: An optical member comprising OD-doped silica glass, optionally doped with fluorine. The optical member is particularly advantageous for use in connection with radiation having a wavelength shorter than about 248 nm. In certain embodiments the optical member can be advantageously used for wavelength as short as about 157 nm.
