    Abstract: Pyridinol carbamate is prepared by a process in which a carbamate of the formulaH.sub.3 C--NH--CO--O--Rwhere R is methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, isopropyl, n-butyl, isobutyl or tert.-butyl, is reacted with 2,6-bis-(hydroxymethyl)-pyridine in the presence of a transesterification catalyst of the Lewis acid type in the liquid phase at elevated temperatures.
