Patent number: 8166871Abstract: A steamer for sandwich buns, bagels, croissants, cakes, vegetables, pastas, and other foods delivers fixed amounts of water onto a hot, dry platen through a vertically-oriented water conduit which is also thermally insulated from the hot platen and made from thermally insulating materials. The vertically-oriented water conduit retains water after a water supply is shut off at the beginning or end of a steam generating cycle. Orienting the conduit vertically reduces the surface area of liquid water exposed to air. Insulating the water conduit from the hot platen reduces the rate at which water standing in the conduit evaporates. Tubes used in the water conduit are insulating and easily removed from the water conduit assembly and flexible. Minerals that precipitate out of solution and become deposited onto the flexible tube are easily removed by flexing the flexible tube.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2008Date of Patent: May 1, 2012Assignee: Prince Castle LLCInventors: Loren Veltrop, Don Van Erden, Michael M. Publication number: 20120076903Abstract: A food warming apparatus includes one or more heating compartments that can hold one or more trays, each covered by a cover, each tray containing previously cooked food portions. One or more supports are disposed inside a heating compartment. A support includes one or more guide members and one or more stop members. A cover includes one or more engagement sections. Without a tray, the cover rests on the one or more stop members. When a tray is inserted into the receiving space defined by the cover and the support, the cover is lifted. The one or more engagement sections engage the one or more guide members to guide the upward motion of the cover. The cover then rests on the tray to at least partially block an open top of the tray, thereby restricting evaporation of liquids from the previously cooked food portions contained therein.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 7, 2011Publication date: March 29, 2012Applicant: PRINCE CASTLE, INC.Inventors: Michael M. Maciejewski, Keith Dice, Loren J. Veltrop, Jack Guasta

Patent number: 7806046Abstract: A toaster for bread-type food products includes a housing defining at least one toasting cavity having an upper mouth for depositing the food products into the cavity and a lower opening from which toasted food products exit the cavity. A perforate rack is provided beneath the lower opening and onto which the toasted food products are deposited as they exit the cavity. The rack is perforated to significantly reduce the surface area of the rack which might otherwise stick to the toasted food products. An imperforate plate is juxtaposed behind the perforate rack to prevent crumbs from the toasted food products from falling into the bottom of the toaster. The plate is spaced from the rack a sufficient distance to prevent any portions of the toasted food products from projecting through the perforate rack and touching the plate and sticking thereto. As disclosed herein, the perforate rack is provided as a wire form structure.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 2007Date of Patent: October 5, 2010Assignee: Prince Castle Inc.Inventors: Robert C. Long, Michael M. Maciejewski

Publication number: 20100098825Abstract: A spatula (200, 700, 900) has a platform (201, 701, 901) having an opening bounded by a food support (205, 217, 221, 223). At least a part of the food support (205, 217, 221, 223) supports a food product, such as a bread product, for steaming or toasting. An optional guide (209, 609, 909) is disposed on one side of the platform (201, 701, 901). The guide (209, 609, 909) is configured to align the food product with a package (501) arranged and sized to contain at least the food product. The platform (201, 701, 901) optionally has one or more segments (703, 705) that rotate away from the platform (201, 701, 901).Type: ApplicationFiled: October 20, 2008Publication date: April 22, 2010Applicant: PRINCE CASTLE INC.Inventors: LOREN VELTROP, DON VAN ERDEN, MICHAEL M. Patent number: 7217906Abstract: A dual function heating and toasting apparatus is provided for radiantly heating or surface toasting bread-type food products. The apparatus includes a housing defining a heating/toasting chamber. A generally vertically oriented, center fixed heating platen is disposed in the chamber. A pair of generally vertically oriented, movable heating platens are disposed on opposite sides of the center fixed platen. A gate is movably mounted on the housing near the bottoms of the platens for movement between a closed position to hold a product between the platens and an open position allowing a finished product to exit the chamber. A product such as a bagel can be placed into the chamber onto the gate between one of the movable platens and the fixed platen and spaced therefrom to heat the bagel by radiant heat. Alternatively, a product such as a bun can be placed in the chamber onto the gate and the movable platen moved to bias the bun against the fixed platen to surface toast the bun.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 2005Date of Patent: May 15, 2007Assignee: Prince Castle IncInventors: Loren J.
