  • Patent number: 6188861
Abstract: Apparatus and method for creating quality pictorial color images include a charging device for uniformly charging a photoconductive member of a first tri-level xerographic module to a predetermined voltage level; using a controller and a ROS device for creating tri-level latent electrostatic images including CAD image areas and DAD image areas having different voltage levels respectively; developing the CAD image areas and the DAD image areas with yellow (Y) and a first black (K1) marking materials respectively to form a first composite color separation image of a desired final pictorial image; transferring the first composite color separation image onto an intermediate transfer member; similarly forming and developing a second composite color separation image on a second tri-level xerographic module using Magenta (M) and a second black (K2) marking material; transferring the second composite color separation image, in registration with the first composite color separation image, onto the intermediate transfe

  • Patent number: 5983065
Abstract: A method including:providing a facility with at least one controlled access electronic printing machine;printing original documents with the controlled access electronic printing machine, wherein printed images formed thereby arise from marking materials containing at least one photoactive additive;equipping all uncontrolled access reprographic devices within the facility with a secure illumination source capable of exposing an object document with sufficient intensity to activate the photoactive additive; andilluminating the object document with the secure illumination source of the uncontrolled access reprographic device, wherein the object documents having original document images printed thereon cannot be copied or scanned in a normal copy or scan illumination interval.

  • Patent number: 5923834
Abstract: In one embodiment, a server electrically connected to an image processing machine provides local data access and includes a monitor component, an analysis and prediction component to analyze data to track machine trends and predict machine subsytem and element faults, a diagnostic component capable of machine diagnostics at a higher level, components, and a communication component to provide a remote communication link. In a second embodiment, a first level of server modules are directly connected to given machines, a second level of server modules with trend analysis and diagnostic capability are connected to a network and associated with a set of machines on the network, and a third level of server modules are associated with a plurality of sets of machines on the network with the analysis and prediction components and diagnostic components providing trend data, fault prediction data, and machine corrective data for the plurality of sets of machines.

  • Patent number: 5514505
Abstract: Disclosed is a process which comprises (a) providing a migration imaging member comprising (1) a substrate and (2) a softenable layer comprising a softenable material and a photosensitive migration marking material present in the softenable layer as a monolayer of particles situated at or near the surface of the softenable layer spaced from the substrate; (b) uniformly charging the imaging member; (3) imagewise exposing the charged imaging member to activating radiation at a wavelength to which the migration marking material is sensitive; (d) subsequent to step (c), causing the softenable material to soften and enabling a first portion of the migration marking material to migrate through the softenable material toward the substrate in an imagewise pattern while a second portion of the migration marking material remains substantially unmigrated within the softenable layer; and (e) contacting the second portion of the migration marking material with a transparentizing agent which transparentizes migration marki
