Abstract: Storage stability is managed. It is detected that a disk drive is requesting to be taken offline. The disk drive is begun to be treated as being in a probation state. If within an acceptable period of time the disk drive requests to be put back online, treatment of the disk drive as being in a probation state is stopped, and only any portions of the disk drive data that were the subject of write requests involving the disk drive while the disk drive was being treated as being in a probation state are rebuilt.

A passenger requests to check-in via SMS from practically anywhere and not limited to the airport. After receipt of the request, a confirmation message is sent back to the passenger's registered mobile phone number by SMS. The system will ask the passenger for, and receive from the passenger, the number of bags they intend to check-in for the flight. The passengers can in some embodiments drop the baggage off without any required further action. The system issues an SMS-based cryptographically secure code, such as a bar-code boarding pass to the passenger once the baggage (if any) is successfully transferred and registered to existing baggage management systems through the process above. This code, when scanned, recognized and authenticated provides identification and security clearance for the passenger to board the aircraft.

Abstract: Systems and methods of processing incoming data provide for receiving incoming data and determining whether to employ stateless routing of the incoming data based on one or more destination hosts associated with the incoming data. In one approach, stateless routing involves storing the incoming data only in volatile memory and withholding confirmation of receipt of the incoming data until confirmation of delivery is received from either the destination host or a downstream router. The determination as to whether stateless routing should be employed can take into consideration historical data for the destination host as well as control data. The determination can also be based on the number of destination hosts.

The at least one option for selection is displayed and the user, selects any one of the at least one options. Upon selection, a token is provided to the user. The binary words are formed into a sequence of characters using a data character map. Special marker characters are inserted into the sequence. The special characters demarcate the sequence into sets of characters separated by one or more special marker characters. Line feed command characters are also inserted. The encoded information is transmitted to a client device that displays it as a rectangular array of characters bounded by the special marker characters.

Abstract: A system and method for identifying first responders at the scene of a hazardous site employs RFID technology to assemble an electronic ride list of first responders at a hazardous site. The electronic ride list is generated by polling the first responders on vehicles en route to the hazardous site. Each electronic ride list is sent to a central location, and an aggregated electronic ride list is assembled employing all of the individual electronic ride lists.

Abstract: A system sets a disk access inhibitor flag whenever a disk drive is placed by the system in an inaccessible condition. The drive operates to set a bit therein when the drive has placed itself in a by-pass condition. During each polling event, the system determines: (1) whether the bit has been set; and (2) whether the disk access inhibitor flag has been set. If the bit has been set and such disk access inhibitor flag has been set, the system maintains the drive in the inaccessible condition; otherwise, the drive is accessible to the system. If, during a polling event, the bit has been set but that drive has not had a bit set during a relatively long period of time, the system maintains the drive accessible to the system unless the drive sets the bit during a subsequent predetermined wait period, after which the system sets the flagdisk access inhibitor flag and places the drive in the inaccessible condition.

Abstract: A mail message, sent by a subscriber of a Mobile Station Integrated Services Digital Network (MSISDN)-restricted messaging service, may be intercepted by a network gateway. A unique ID number, which may be in the form of a standard MSISDN number, may be assigned to the restricted subscriber, and used to send the mail message as a multimedia mail service (MMS) message to a recipient subscriber of an MSISDN-based messaging service. In one embodiment, the ID number may be used as the sender's MSISDN number. In another embodiment, the recipient may reply to the message without ever seeing the sender's actual MSISDN such that privacy is protected but communication is enabled.

Abstract: An object-oriented synchronization pattern for synchronizing a mobile application and a corresponding enterprise application is provided herein. The synchronization pattern uses service invocations to convey application state differential from the mobile device to the enterprise server and object-based database synchronization for conveying application state differential from the enterprise to the mobile device. Service invocations may be conveyed in batch or individually separately and using a variety of service types.

Abstract: A reversible chair is disclosed which permits the user to sit with either a conventional backrest or to rest his or her chest against the same element in a “forward chair” configuration. The rest is attached to the seat with a side-mounted support arm such that no central support must be straddled when the chair is used as a forward chair. In certain embodiments, the rest is moveable from a backrest position to a front rest position. In this way, the user may face the same direction on the seat in either configuration thereby permitting optimal contouring of the seating surface. In yet other embodiments, the attachment of the rest to the seat is adjustable in a fore and aft direction. Armrests are provided in certain embodiments which are moveable from a position which extends from the front of the back/front rest to a position which extends from the opposite side of the rest.

Abstract: An oven for providing radiant and impingement heat to a food item. The oven includes a fan mechanism for drawing air around the radiant heat elements of the oven. The air is then delivered to an impingement tray located adjacent the food item. The air is forced through a series of apertures and onto the food item. At the same time the oven is also being heated by the radiant heat elements. This allows greater heat to be applied to specific locations on the food item. An external heat source is not required to heat the air as the air is heated by the existing radiant heat elements.
