Patent number: 9544049Abstract: Fiber network for interrogating fiber-optic sensors in a first Passive Optical Network (PON) and in a second PON, the fiber network comprising a test signal transceiver for emitting query signals and for receiving response signals, a first PON and a second PON. Each PON comprises a light source for generating telecommunication signals and a fiber-optic sensor. Each PON can transmit the telecommunication signals to a plurality of subscribers, and is optically connected to the test signal transceiver such that the query signals can be fed into the respective PON and propagate in the PON to the fiber-optic sensor, and such that the test signal transceiver can receive response signals from the fiber-optic sensor through the PON. The fiber network further comprises a query signal splitter, optically connected to the test signal transceiver and to the PONs such that it can feed a query signal into the PONs simultaneously, and such that it can feed response signals from the PONs into the test signal transceiver.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 2013Date of Patent: January 10, 2017Assignee: 3M Innovative Properties CompanyInventors: Johannes Fink, Manfred Bauer, Ulrich Lutterkordt, Michael Bake, Friedrich W. Denter, Manfred Stieglitz, Michael Mansholt

Patent number: 7830669Abstract: A contact bank, which can be terminated, or is terminated, at least one terminal module serving for signal communication and being adapted to allow telecommunications lines to be connected therewith, or at least one supplementary module, of a telecommunications distribution point, which is connected to a terminal module, whereby the contact bank further is mountable or mounted in the telecommunications distribution point, includes: (a) a plurality of tapping contacts directly and permanently electrically connected to the contacts of the module in the terminated condition of said contact bank; (b) a smaller number of outlet contacts than of tapping contacts; (c) a plurality of remote-controllable switches for selectively electrically connecting said outlet contacts to said tapping contacts; and (d) a control device for controlling the plurality of switches.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2008Date of Patent: November 9, 2010Assignee: 3M Innovative Properties CompanyInventors: Michael Bake, Udo Bendig, Klaus Werner Bohle, Wolf-Dieter Fischer, Achim Halfmann, Axel Koruschowitz, Michael Mansholt, Peter R. Publication number: 20100061523Abstract: A switch module (10) in a distribution point, such as an MDF or a remote cabinet, in the field of telecommunications, has a plurality of paired contacts and a remotely controllable switch. At least one pair of in contacts (14) may be adapted to transmit an incoming signal. At least one first pair of service contacts (16.1) may be adapted to transmit a POTS, DSL or combined signal, and at least one further pair of service contacts (16.2, 16.3, 16.4) may be adapted to transmit a POTS, DSL, test, monitoring or combined signal. The number of pairs of in contacts (14) is less than the number of pairs of service contacts (16.1 to 16.4). The remotely controllable switch (12) may be adapted to selectively connect the contacts (14) with the service contacts (16.1, 16.2, 16.3, 16.4).Type: ApplicationFiled: November 27, 2007Publication date: March 11, 2010Inventors: Christine B. Bund, Friedrich Wilhelm Denter, Michael Mansholt, Douglas J. Denne
