  • Patent number: 9459792
Abstract: A portable electronic device with a touch screen display for photo management is disclosed. One aspect of the invention involves a computer-implemented method in which the portable electronic device displays an array of thumbnail images corresponding to a set of photographic images. The device replaces the displayed array of thumbnail images with a user-selected photographic image upon detecting a user contact with a corresponding thumbnail image in the array. The user-selected photographic image is displayed at a larger scale than the corresponding thumbnail image. The portable device displays a different photographic image in replacement of the user-selected photographic image in accordance with a scrolling gesture. The scrolling gesture comprises a substantially horizontal movement of user contact with the touch screen display.

  • Patent number: 9459705
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes sending information to display an image on a screen. A scroll range for the image may be determined based on dimensions of the image. An origin position and an initial tilt of a gyroscope may also be determined for the image. Tilt measurements associated with the presentation of the image may be received as the gyroscope detects changes in tilt. A progress parameter may be determined based on at least the scroll range, the origin position, and the initial tilt. A scrolling presentation of the image may then be rendered based on the progress parameter. The scrolling presentation of the image may be smoothed by applying an RK4 solver to the tilt measurements to eliminate jitter due to hand tremors. A virtual spring effect may also be applied to give the scrolling presentation a bouncy effect as the edge of the image is reached.

  • Publication number: 20160265932
Abstract: On a mobile device a “live” network-based query for search is performed (e.g., performed automatically) in response to a map display update or other trigger event. In some implementations, when the map display is updated (or other trigger event occurs) a network-based map service is queried to obtain information related to the current location of the mobile device. The information can be presented on the map display. In some implementations, when multiple search results matching the query are provided by the map service, a confirmation request is presented on the mobile device to allow the user to select a search result. The selected search result (e.g., a destination) can be presented on the map display. A route from the current location of the mobile device to a destination can be drawn on the map display.

  • Publication number: 20160253065
Abstract: In a computer-implemented method, at a portable multifunction device with a touch screen display, a series of ratings indicia are displayed on the touch screen display, wherein the ratings indicia comprise a lowest rating indicia and one or more progressively higher rating indicia. A finger gesture by a user on one or more of the ratings indicia is detected, wherein the finger gesture contacts a last rating indicia immediately prior to breaking contact with the touch screen display. A rating corresponding to the last rating indicia contacted by the finger gesture is used as input to a function or application in the device.

  • Publication number: 20160246473
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for use in conjunction with a computing device with a touch screen display comprises: detecting one or more finger contacts with the touch screen display, applying one or more heuristics to the one or more finger contacts to determine a command for the device, and processing the command. The one or more heuristics comprise: a heuristic for determining that the one or more finger contacts correspond to a one-dimensional vertical screen scrolling command, a heuristic for determining that the one or more finger contacts correspond to a two-dimensional screen translation command, and a heuristic for determining that the one or more finger contacts correspond to a command to transition from displaying a respective item in a set of items to displaying a next item in the set of items.

  • Patent number: 9423941
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes determining, by a computing device, a scroll range for an image based on a dimension of the image, determining the image's origin position device's initial tilt, determining a second tilt and a rate of rotation about a first axis, and determining a rate of rotation about a second axis. The method includes comparing the device's rate of rotation about the first axis with the device's rate of rotation about the second axis or one of its components. The method further includes determining, based on the comparison, whether to render a scrolling presentation of the image. When the scrolling presentation of the image is to be rendered, the method includes determining a progress parameter based on the scroll range, the origin position, the initial tilt, and the second tilt; and rendering a scrolling presentation of the image based on the progress parameter.

  • Patent number: 9367232
Abstract: A portable multifunction device displays a first user interface object and a second user interface object on a touch screen display. Upon detecting a finger-down event at the first user interface object and one or more finger-dragging events on the touch screen display, the device moves the first user interface object on the touch screen display along a path determined by the finger-dragging events until the first user interface object at least in part overlaps the second user interface object. Upon detecting a finger-up event at the second user interface object, the device visually replaces the second user interface object with the first user interface object.
