  • Publication number: 20150348167
Abstract: A method for facilitating electronic commerce social gifting, wherein an initial user can select a specific gift to be given to a gift recipient. A plurality of vendors and a plurality of gifts from which the initial user selects the specific gift are presented to the initial user through an initial user account. The initial user then provides recipient information, gifting medium, and gift acceptance time period. The gifting medium defines the method in which a gift redemption code is sent to the gift recipient (e.g. text message, email, social media website), while the recipient information provides the personal data for sending the gift redemption code through the gifting medium. If the specific gift is not accepted by the gift recipient within the gift acceptance time period, then the gift redemption code is cancelled. If accepted, the specific gift or a gift value can be redeemed by the gift recipient.

  • Patent number: 8603057
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for automatically limiting the drainage of a bodily fluid such as cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from a patient into a collection chamber. The collection chamber includes a vent having an hydrophobic filter for the passage of air to facilitate the movement of CSF yet to maintain a closed system. The system includes a buoyant float hingedly connected with the top of the collection chamber in one embodiment. When fluid rises in the collection chamber to a predetermined volume, buoyant force raises the float and causes a seal plug mounted on top of the float to seal one of an inflow port or a vent port. The float is limited to pivoting movement in one plane and to a certain angle within that plane. The system and method avoid overdrainage of CSF from the patient and overfilling of the collection chamber.

  • Patent number: 8358440
Abstract: Methods and systems herein provide for calibrating for a plurality of different paper types. In one embodiment, a system for calibrating a printer includes a measurement module operable to detect colors printed on a first tangible medium by the printer and convert the detected colors to a detected color characterization. The system also includes a storage module operable to store a calibration file. The calibration file includes color characterizations of a plurality of different tangible mediums and each color characterization includes color measurements for one of the plurality of different tangible mediums obtained from the printer via the measurement module when the printer is calibrated. The system also includes a calibration module operable to compare the detected color characterization to at least two color characterizations of the calibration file and determine an adjustment to an output color scheme of the printer based on the comparison to calibrate the printer.
