  • Patent number: 11918485
Abstract: Piezoelectric osteotomy devices and corresponding systems and methods for removing an acetabular cup or shell from a patient's acetabulum are disclosed. In one embodiment, the piezoelectric osteotomy device includes a piezoelectric element to actuate a cutting tip on an armature. In some such embodiments, the cutting tip may be extended and/or retracted to facilitate cutting of bone around an acetabular cup. The armature may include a fluid output port located proximate the cutting tip to mitigate heat generated by the cutting tip. In one embodiment, the piezoelectric osteotomy device is arranged and configured to provide constant current adjustment.

  • Patent number: 11812939
Abstract: A device comprising a housing including a palm portion, a sheath portion extending from one end of the palm portion, and a slot comprising an adjustable platform capable of receiving a syringe and a needle connected to the syringe with the needle resting in the sheath portion. A trigger mechanism is connected to the adjustable platform. Adjustment of the trigger mechanism in a first direction moves the platform along the slot toward the sheath portion and adjustment of the bidirectional trigger mechanism in a second direction moves the platform away from the sheath. A light element is connected to the housing and is capable of directing light along the sheath portion away from the palm portion. A power source is electrically coupled to the light element to provide electrical power to the light element. Also disclosed is a system comprising the device, as well as methods of using the device.

  • Publication number: 20120160971
Abstract: A bag spreader apparatus has an upper portion of a first length comprising two parallel upper side rails defining a substantially horizontal plane, a handle element at one end spanning and joining the upper side rails, a first jaw element at the opposite end spanning and joining the side rails and extending downward from the plane of the side rails, and guide structures contiguous with each upper side rail forming partially enclosed tracks open to the inside along a portion of each upper side rail, and a lower portion of a second length less than the first length comprising two parallel lower side rails defining a substantially horizontal plane, a handle portion spanning and joining the lower side rails, and a second jaw element extending downward from the plane of the lower side rails, the lower side rails constrained in the partially enclosed tracks of the upper guide rails, such that the lower portion may be translated relative to the upper portion to vary the distance between the first and second jaw elem

  • Publication number: 20080106794
Abstract: Certain exemplary embodiments can comprise a method, which can comprise illuminating a component via a beamsplitter. The beamsplitter can comprise at least three distinct light reflection zones. The beamsplitter can be adapted to illuminate a component with light energy reflected from each of a plurality of distinct light reflection zones.

  • Publication number: 20080080180
Abstract: An illumination system includes an illumination source such as an array of LED's over which is provided a diffuser. The illumination source provides light which, because of light refraction, radiates generally uniformly from edge to edge of the diffuser. The diffuser may be a planar flat piece of may include a hollow, cup like structure formed by a frame with a cover. The illumination system may be scaled up to provide multiple such illumination devices side by side to provide a greater area or strength of illumination. Multiple systems may utilize multiple diffusers or a single diffuser covering multiple illumination sources. The illumination source may be mounted to a backplate or heatsink which is larger than the illumination source to facilitate the addition of further electronic circuitry and or mounting capabilities.

  • Publication number: 20070097686
Abstract: A plurality of LED's, or electro luminescent strips, are disposed to project illumination to and thru, or towards, a diffuser; resulting in at least a portion of generated diffuse illumination being directed towards and upon the cylindrical surface of an article or part when disposed at an article illumination location. The article illumination location is established so that a centerline through the article is co-linear with a center line of the diffuse illumination projecting from, or reflected from, the diffusers. A housing may be provided for the LED's, electro luminescent strips and diffusers; or they may be otherwise arranged to coact to provide diffuse illumination directed towards the cylindrical surface of the part or other article.
