  • Publication number: 20120323689
Abstract: A first request for a creation of a first social networking space is received. The first request comprises a first geospatial location and an identification of an advertisement, the advertisement being associated with an advertiser and a monetization fee. A social networking space is created based on the request. The social networking space comprises facilities for displaying the advertisement such that the advertisement is visible to users signed into the social networking space. A second request is received from a first user to sign into the first social networking space, such that the second request is transmitted from a mobile device associated with the first user. It is verified, using the computing device, that a current geospatial position of the mobile device is within the first geospatial location. In response to verifying the current geospatial position, the first user is signed into the first social networking space.

  • Publication number: 20110285984
Abstract: A laser Doppler velocimeter uses self-mixing amplification of backreflections from scatterers below the surface of a flow. A time domain signal is divided into segments that are roughly equal to a transit time of particles through a focus of a laser beam. The segments are connected to a frequency domain through the use of an FFT algorithm to produce frequency domain data segments. Signal-to-noise ratio is enhanced through signal processing techniques using the segments to produce a final enhanced signal spectrum.

  • Patent number: 7636639
Abstract: A remote sensor and associated data processor, performs concurrent analysis of backscattered signals from a multi-beam (6-10) acoustic Doppler emitter/receiver (1) positioned against the inside wall of a conveying pipe (2) or channel. Range-gating of the return signals allows independent analysis of discrete volumes of backscattered signal data corresponding to the distribution, concentration and travel velocity of small individual volumes or bins of water and suspended solids (4). Velocity is derived from the measured Doppler frequency shift for each bin. Relative solids concentration is estimated as a function of the measured intensity of the backscattered signals.

  • Patent number: 7494512
Abstract: This invention relates to new compositions and methods for cleaning textile substrates, especially carpet and upholstery fabrics. More particularly, this invention relates to liquid compositions that contain absorbent particles in a flowable fluid dispersion, which dries to a soil ladened powder, that can be removed by vacuuming, brushing, and/or laundering methods. The composition includes dispersion stabilizing additives such that the composition is presented as a stable dispersion or as a composition that may be easily redispersed prior to application.

  • Publication number: 20070201646
Abstract: A caller calls a callback system. If the caller is not a subscriber, the caller is offered a subscription, and if the caller provides proper billing information, the caller becomes a subscriber. When a subscriber calls a callback system, the system identifies the subscriber's ANI and calls the subscriber back. The system connects the subscriber to a destination chosen by the subscriber.

  • Patent number: 7257089
Abstract: A method and network that employs N attendant, messaging and content-based speech systems networked together to transfer call sessions via a VoIP bi-directional link. To enhance network performance, each of the N systems of the network includes an extension database having N city or system directories identifying the extensions and the names associated with such extensions. The caller is given a prompt to provide the network a city where the target resides. Thereafter, the network determines the target's extension by directly accessing the appropriate directory.

  • Publication number: 20070069190
Abstract: An equipment handling apparatus is described. The equipment handling apparatus includes a base and a mast coupled to the base, an equipment head coupled to and translatable along the mast, and a mounting device rotatably coupled to the equipment head. In this regard, the mast is aligned along a first axis, and the equipment head includes a rotatable head shaft defining a second axis that is non-parallel to the first axis. The mounting device includes a second shaft independently rotatable about a third axis non-parallel to the second axis. Motive means provide for translating the equipment head, rotating the head shaft, and for rotating the second shaft independent of the head shaft.

  • Publication number: 20060285535
Abstract: An Internet Access Device (IAD) is pre-configured with first, generic configuration information designating the address of a configuration server with which it will establish a communication session when the IAD is first powered up and connected to the Internet. The configuration server then downloads a second, specific configuration to the IAD, such as a hotline number designating a specific speech server, and creates a network data record to link a unique identifier for the IAD, such as a serial number, with a user account. When the IAD goes off-hook, the IAD connects directly to a speech server using the second configuration. The speech server provides a smart dial tone, such as a voice prompt. The speech server responds to a verbal request spoken by a user by performing a corresponding activity, such as placing a telephone call or providing voicemail access.

  • Publication number: 20040044515
Abstract: An automated natural language inference system that interprets KEYWORDS within a natural language stream to carry out a particular action inferred from such stream and, if necessary, queries the user for more KEYWORDS or natural language CONFIRMATION via a natural language dialog until an inferred action can be fired. The inference engine of the system populates rule TEMPLATES with different permutations of the KEYWORDS, constrained by word-to-slot size and the KEYWORD-to-slot number, to find a rule match. If more than one rule match is found, the rule with the highest priority is selected and fired.

  • Publication number: 20020122541
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are directed to automated reception systems that may receive voice information indicating action to be taken by the system. The automated reception system may receive a call and transmit a speech message to the caller identifying actions that the caller may ask the system to take. The caller may verbally select an action for the system to execute. Possible actions may depend upon the system context and information about possible actions may be provided to the caller through dynamically generated messages. The caller may also access voicemail or electronic mail messages using embodiments of the invention. Furthermore, in some embodiments, a caller may be able to control a separate communication session using voice or other commands input during a telephone session.

  • Patent number: 5273803
Abstract: An apparatus and method for fabricating accurate, numerically defined curved surfaces and volumes comprising a skeleton framework having a plurality of bulkheads fixed in spaced relationship with each other, each of the bulkheads having an equal number of boreholes passing through the outer perimeter thereof so as to provide a set of selected boreholes. A flexible spline having a memory is passed through each set of mating boreholes and is secured with the boreholes after the splines have reached their static states. The resultant framework is encased in a cured polymer and the polymer is trimmed and faired between the outer edges of the splines.
