Patent number: 12025369Abstract: A hard-sided cooler box may include a channel or cylindrical-shaped hole that extends from the outside of the cooler box to the inside of the cooler box. This cylindrical-shaped hole or channel may be covered/sealed by one or more latches of the cooler box when the cooler box is closed, and the latches are secured. However, when the latches of the cooler box are released, the cylindrical-shaped hole or channel may be unblocked, and the air from the interior of the cooler box can escape to the outside of the cooler box before the lid is lifted from the body. This allows the lid to be opened with no struggle.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 2021Date of Patent: July 2, 2024Assignee: Academy, Ltd.Inventor: Michael Middleton

Patent number: 11284613Abstract: A water animal deterrent is disclosed herein. The water animal deterrent includes an animatronic spider having moving legs, multiple lights, Bluetooth speakers, and motion detectors, where the device is powered by a rechargeable battery and solar panels. The water animal deterrent is placed near a swimming pool to protect the pool against various vermin that may come into contact and contaminate the pool. The motion detectors of the water animal deterrent detect the presence of any vermin that walks by a swimming pool. If vermin are detected, the legs of the animatronic body begin to move, and the lights begin to illuminate. As a result, the vermin in the vicinity of the swimming pool are scared away. The water animal deterrent further includes a Bluetooth speaker to facilitate a noise to scare the vermin away. The speaker may also be used for entertainment purposes.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 2019Date of Patent: March 29, 2022Inventor: Michael Middleton

Patent number: 9759794Abstract: Techniques, apparatus and systems are described for using parameters including chain length, number of double bonds and number of double-double bonds of a complex, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-generated fat spectrum to determine the composition and properties of fat and to perform various diagnostic functions. In one aspect, a method using MRI to characterize fat includes acquiring a magnetic resonance (MR) image that includes MR data from a target, determining fat characterization parameters based on the acquired MR data, and using the determined fat characterization parameters to produce a relationship between regions of fat and/or water in the MR image.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2011Date of Patent: September 12, 2017Assignee: The Regents of the University of CaliforniaInventors: Mark Bydder, Gavin Hamilton, Michael Middleton, Claude Sirlin

Publication number: 20160109185Abstract: Energy storage system regulating power output of a power generation plant that has a heat exchanger, primary circuit and secondary circuit, primary circuit directs primary fluid flow to components of a primary region and secondary circuit directs a secondary fluid flow to components of a secondary region, the heat exchanger is arranged so the secondary fluid flow is heated from the primary fluid flow. Energy storage arrangement makes a vessel for storing secondary fluid. Fluid transfer arrangement connects the vessel and is connectable to the heat exchanger of the power generation system to arrange the fluid transfer arrangement in fluid communication with the heat exchanger and the vessel. Bidirectional flow arrangement configured to control flow direction of fluid between the vessel and fluid transfer arrangement to selectively store heat energy from the heat exchanger in the vessel, and selectively transfer heat energy stored in the vessel to the heat exchanger.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 28, 2015Publication date: April 21, 2016Inventors: Michael MIDDLETON, Robert COLLINS

Patent number: 6014211Abstract: Disclosed is a laser level device that includes a reference surface, and a laser beam generator that is coupled to the reference surface. The laser level device also includes a compensator that is supported proximate to the reference surface. The compensator has a pendulum that includes a polygonal body with at least a four point suspension. The compensator also has optics that are coupled to the polygonal body in the path of a laser beam that is produced by the laser beam generator to redirect the laser beam, and a keeper that is coupled to the reference surface and is at least partially surrounding the polygonal body such that an air gap may be provided between the polygonal body and the keeper. The laser level device further includes a beam sweeper that is supported above the reference surface in the path of the redirected laser beam to sweep the redirected laser beam in a plane.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 1998Date of Patent: January 11, 2000Assignee: Laser ReferenceInventors: Michael A. Patent number: 5108177Abstract: A simple structure for providing a level laser beam. A pendulum is suspended by at least two suspension supports along the line parallel to a path of a laser beam emitted from a laser. An optical element is mounted on the pendulum to intercept the laser beam and reflect it along a path orthogonal to the first path. The pendulum will maintain the optical element in a vertical alignment, and accordingly the beam reflected off the optical element will be horizontal.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 1990Date of Patent: April 28, 1992Assignee: Laserline, Inc.Inventor: Michael A.
