  • Publication number: 20250256080
Abstract: Tumor-Treating Fields elicit a conditional vulnerability to PARP inhibitors (e.g., Olaparib) in certain cancer cells such as non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cell lines. This conditional vulnerability is exploited in a method of killing cancer cells that comprises delivering a PARP inhibitor to the cancer cells and applying an alternating 80-300 kHz electric field to the cancer cells. At least a portion of the applying step is performed simultaneously with at least a portion of the delivering step. In some embodiments, an additional step of treating the cancer cells with a radiation therapy is added to the method. In some embodiments, the frequency of the alternating electric field is between 100 and 200 kHz.

  • Publication number: 20250256086
Abstract: A cardiac assist device includes an expandable cup with a pumping chamber having at least one inflow aperture, an outflow nozzle in communication with the chamber, and a volume displacement member inside the chamber. The volume displacement member is cyclically movable between a low-volume state and a high-volume state at a frequency F, wherein a displacement volume of blood Vd is displaced from the chamber through the nozzle during each cycle. When the volume displacement member moves at frequency F, the device increases momentum of blood flowing through the device such that flow rate of blood exiting the nozzle is substantially greater than the frequency F multiplied by the displacement volume Vd. In some embodiments, the volume displacement member includes a balloon having a proximal region that is distanced from an inner wall of the chamber more than a distal region of the balloon when the balloon is fully inflated.

Abstract: A manifold for connection to a waste collection vacuum device. The manifold includes suction port tubes and a vacuum port that define interconnected fluid communication pathways such that no walls define proximal and distal ends of the manifold. Tabs are coupled to at least one of the interconnected fluid communication pathways. The tabs interface with keyed surfaces of the waste collection vacuum device so as to facilitate positive location and mechanical fixation with the waste collection vacuum device. A web of material may extend between the suction port tubes to increase torsional strength of the manifold. There may be two webs of material with each coupled to opposing pairs of four suction port tubes. The vacuum port may be a single vacuum port.

  • Publication number: 20250257468
Abstract: We disclose novel methods for infiltrating gallium or an alloy thereof into a porous scaffold. Such methods include selecting or providing a porous scaffold; and using a centrifuge to at least partially fill the porous scaffold with gallium or an alloy thereof. The void fraction of the filled-coated scaffold is preferably no more than about 10%. In some embodiments and implementations, the methods further include forming a coating on the porous scaffold to enhance wetting of the scaffold to gallium before infiltration with the centrifuge. With the coating, the void fraction of the filled-coated scaffold may be advantageously reduced to be no more than about 2%. Cleaning step(s) may be further provided to remove oxides from the scaffolds before infiltration with the centrifuge.

  • Publication number: 20250257687
Abstract: A gas turbine engine has a turbomachine comprising compressor, combustion, and turbine sections. The gas turbine engine defines a maximum exhaust gas temperature, a maximum drive turbine shaft torque, and a corrected specific power. The gas turbine engine includes a nozzle vane and an engine casing defining a fluid supply plenum. The engine casing is configured to route cooling fluid from the fluid supply plenum to the nozzle vane. The routing of the cooling fluid facilitates cooling of the nozzle vane and increases an overall pressure ratio of the gas turbine engine. Integration of the cooling fluid routing within the engine casing reduces parasitic bleed air losses, enables tighter turbine stage spacing, and improves the thermal efficiency of the engine, thereby enhancing performance at elevated pressure ratios.
