    Abstract: An appliance is provided including a fluid flow path and a filter receiving portion. The filter receiving portion comprises an installation assistance feature and is configured to receive a water filter such that it is fluidly connected to the flow path. One or more water filter sensors are included that sense when the water filter is in a first position relative to the filter receiving portion so as to enable initiation of an installation procedure to cause the water filter to move to the installed position. The installation procedure utilizes no the installation assistance feature. At least one controller is provided that receives an indication that the water filter is in a first position and causes, based on the indication, activation of the installation assistance feature to reposition the water filter from the first position towards the installed position.

    Abstract: A mote includes an optical receiver that wirelessly receives a power and data signal in form of NIR light energy within a patient and converts the NIR light energy to an electrical signal having a supply voltage. A control module supplies the supply voltage to power devices of the mote. A clock generation circuit locks onto a target clock frequency based on the power and data signal and generates clock signals. A data recovery circuit sets parameters of one of the devices based on the power and data signal and a first clock signal. An amplifier amplifies a neuron signal detected via an electrode inserted in tissue of the patient. A chip identifier module, based on a second clock signal, generates a recorded data signal based on a mote chip identifier and the neuron signal. A driver transmits the recorded data signal via a LED or a RF transmitter.

In an embodiment, the memory device further comprises a partition mechanism for simultaneously accepting output writing from the first functional component and accepting input reading from the second functional component. Preferably, the multistate intersection comprises at least two states, a connecting state connecting the two data buses, and a disconnecting state disconnecting the two data buses. The multistate intersection provides a reconfigurable bus fabric, allowing different connection configuration for the data buses. This reconfigurable bus fabric offers soft-configurability and soft-reconfigurability, using software programming to arrange the circuits' interconnections. Other configurations are also disclosed in exemplary embodiments.
