  • Publication number: 20190307916
Abstract: Otologic materials and methods are provided. For example, a cell-adhesive, biodegradable hydrogel scaffold loaded with time-released drugs for repairing chronic tympanic membrane perforations is disclosed, methods of making same and administering same are provided. This hydrogel may promote vascular in-growth and epithelial cell growth of the tympanic membrane with the purpose of closing the perforation and providing a barrier between the external and middle ear. The hydrogel is initially a liquid polymer that only gels upon exposure to specific conditions, such as exposure to light. This scaffold may simultaneously induce repair of the tympanic membrane while preventing or alleviating middle ear infection, thus filling a void in current tympanic membrane perforation therapies.

  • Publication number: 20190141908
Abstract: A device for use within a plant pot with at least one vertically-oriented drainage opening in its base, which facilitates the drainage of excess water from the plant pot while mitigating the loss of growing medium through the drainage opening. The plant pot drainer comprises at least two concentric tiers of structural members having a plurality of horizontally-oriented openings, and an upper body, which is fixed atop the structural members. The horizontally-oriented openings between the structural members are configured to be radially staggered relative to the horizontally-oriented openings of the immediately adjacent tiers of structural members. The radially staggered configuration causes the space between the tiers of structural members to become partially obstructed by growing medium, which impedes the passage of additional growing medium while allowing water to continue to flow and ultimately exit the plant pot through the drainage opening.

  • Publication number: 20190012367
Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for an entity ranking system. In one embodiment, a computing system is configured to interface with one or more domains to identify a set of entities. The computing system can ascertain a first set of data components for each entity, normalize each of the first set of data components for each entity, and detect a failure to ascertain a second set of data components. The computing system can compute a statistical probability for a possible set of values for each data component of the second set based on the ascertained first set of data components. The computing system can rank each entity based on a derived quantile. The computing system can generate a graphical user interface including a visualization of the ranking of each entity, which can be rendered on a display of the at least one user computing devices.
