  • Patent number: 11873154
Abstract: A contact lens package, comprising blister packaging defining a cavity, a contact lens disposed in an unstressed state within the cavity, lens hydrating liquid partially filling the cavity, and lid stock sealed to the blister packaging such that a segment of the lid stock, in combination with the cavity, forms an enclosure of the lens and the liquid. The segment has an interior surface including at least one relief element. The interior surface exclusive of the at least one relief element is flat. An air gap is disposed between a top surface of the liquid and at least a portion of the interior surface. The at least one relief element on the interior surface of the lid stock may be formed while testing the structure for leaks by applying pressure to the lid stock with a stamp having a contour corresponding to the at least one relief element.

  • Publication number: 20230045046
Abstract: A contact lens package includes a base including an upper surface and a receptacle having a volume. The contact lens package also includes a flexible cover including an interior surface that is coupled to the upper surface of the base. A stiff dome is attached to an interior surface of the cover and the stiff dome displaces an amount of volume from the volume of the receptacle. The contact lens package may also include a lens having an anterior surface and a posterior surface disposed in the receptacle with the posterior surface of the lens disposed adjacent to the stiff dome. By peeling the flexible cover away from the base, the lens remains mounted on the stiff dome causing the anterior surface of the lens to be presented to a user.

  • Publication number: 20050045589
Abstract: Intraocular lenses or contact lenses 20 are placed on a lower spindle 34 and held there by a vacuum in conduit 34. Noble and reactive gases 56, 58 are introduced and a voltage is applied across upper spindle 32 and lower spindle 34 to plasma treat one surface of the lens. The lens is transferred to the other spindle and the process is repeated.

  • Patent number: 5503515
Abstract: An apparatus and method for inverting a plurality of contact lenses between separate processing steps which treat the opposite concave and convex surfaces of the lenses. The lenses are initially placed convex side-up on a perforated lens support surface and are subjected to the first processing step which treats this surface of the lens. The support surface is then passed over an elongated air stream which traverses and is directed to impinge upon the bottom surface of the support whereby the air stream passes through the perforations in the support and inverts the lenses from the convex side-up position to a concave side-up position whereupon this surface of the lenses may be treated in a subsequent processing step.
