  • Publication number: 20050116385
Abstract: A method for producing a holding element on an edge region of a molded body made of a brittle material. The molded body is placed in a form tool that forms a charge cavity in the edge region of the molded body. The charge cavity is at least partially filled with a plastic material, and the molded body having the holding element formed thereon is then removed from the form tool. According to this invention, in order to optimize the production process, the molded body is held in the form tool by a clamping element. A section of the charge cavity is defined by the clamping element. A sealing element is applied to the molded body in a transition region between the charge cavity and the clamping element. The plastic material is introduced into the charge cavity by extrusion.

  • Patent number: 6437297
Abstract: A kitchen appliance with a work surface made of a temperature-resistant plastic material or composite plastic material, which has a cooktop receptacle. To reduce the installation effort for use in a row of kitchen appliances, a kitchen sink has cutouts for associated plumbing fixtures and a control panel receptacle is embodied in the work surface, besides the cooktop receptacle. Splash guard edges with support receptacles for support elements for kitchen utensils, kitchen utensil deposits and/or kitchen utensil supports are formed on the work surface.

  • Patent number: 6398903
Abstract: A method for applying an edge protector to a plate made of a brittle material, such as glass or a glass-ceramic or ceramic material, in particular a cooking surface. The edge protector can be applied to a plate made of a brittle material without expensive tools and without prefabricated frame elements because the plate is positioned, with the top leading, in a lower tool element, and an upper tool element is placed on the lower tool element with the positioned plate. A hollow space, which is open toward the top of the upper tool element and defines the shape of the edge, is delimited by the lower tool element and the upper tool element in the area of the edge of the plate. A cold-setting sealing compound is metered into the hollow space, and the plate, together with the edge protector, is removed from the tool following the setting of the sealing compound.
