  • Publication number: 20240094233
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods, devices and systems for associating consumable data with an assay consumable used in a biological assay. Provided are assay systems and associated consumables, wherein the assay system adjusts one or more steps of an assay protocol based on consumable data specific for that consumable. Various types of consumable data are described, as well as methods of using such data in the conduct of an assay by an assay system. The present invention also relates to consumables (e.g., kits and reagent containers), software, data deployable bundles, computer-readable media, loading carts, instruments, systems, and methods, for performing automated biological assays.

  • Publication number: 20240084475
Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for creating phobic and philic surfaces (for example, superphobic and superphilic surfaces) are disclosed. Embodiments include methods for determining a heat treatment technique that increases the likelihood that a uniformly etched surface with minimal pitting will be formed when the surface of a material is subject to etching. Additional embodiments include evaluating the PRE number of the material, performing an anodic polarization sweep of the material, evaluating the polarization curve (current vs. potential) for the material, performing different etching protocols depending on the range of values the PRE number of the material belongs, and/or pulsing the current applied to the material during the etching process. Additional embodiments include apparatuses and methods for predictably etching a surface (such as a surface of a metal alloy) of a material, which can include etching interior portions of a hollow work piece.

  • Patent number: 8369504
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for providing customer interaction information to a business channel. The apparatus and methods may involve receiving from a first business channel a first customer interaction data structure corresponding to a customer interaction, storing a data object corresponding to the first customer interaction data structure; and providing to a second business channel formatting information corresponding to the first customer interaction data structure. The first and second business channels may thus use independent data structures for storing their customer interaction information in a centralized database. The first and second data structures may view the other's data structures using formatting from the other channel.

  • Patent number: 5048543
Abstract: A rotary ledger for a continuous rod-making machine includes gears (50,54) having interengaging teeth which are subjected to a pressure applied by resilient means to reduce or eliminate backlash. The pressure is applied as a predetermined torque applied through coaxial gear portions (50A, 50B, 54A, 54B) which are effectively urged to rotate in opposite direction swhile remaining engaged with a common further gear (46). A rotary torque limiting device (74) is connected to one end of a flat torsion spring (68) the other end of which is connected to one of the coaxial gear portions (50A) for applying the torque. An oil flow arrangement (124-132) is provided for ensuring adequate lubrication of at least one bearing (120) for a shaft (42) extending through the ledger housing (38) while preventing escape of oil with possible consequent contamination of the rod.

  • Patent number: 4997415
Abstract: A ledger assembly for a continuous rod cut-off includes a rigid beam (12) carrying ledger tubes (10) and pivotally supported by fibreglass springs (16,22). Vertical springs (22) resist the cutting force of the cut-off knife (30) and allow reciprocal movement of the tubes (10) while imparting a vertical displacement to the beam (12) so that the tubes follow a straight path along the rod line (28). A horizontal spring (16) allows this vertical displacement while providing lateral stiffness for the base of the beam (12). A drive arrangement for the beam (12) includes a lubricating system for a bearing (42) of a connecting rod (36) in which lubricant is collected for return by action of centrifugal force in a housing (72) located on the side of the bearing opposite a lubricant supply path (86, 88) through a crankshaft (40).
