  • Publication number: 20070023941
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to methods of making polarizing beam splitters. An exemplary method includes supporting a polarizing film within a mold, where the polarizing film has a first surface and a second surface, injecting a polymeric material into the mold adjacent the first surface of the polarizing film, solidifying the first polymeric material to form a first prism, and securing a second prism to the second surface of the polarizing film. Another exemplary method includes injection molding a component of the polarizing beam splitter including a first polymeric material and heat treating the first component up to a temperature that does not exceed about 20° C. below a glass transition temperature of the first polymeric material.

  • Publication number: 20060155474
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for downhole analysis of formation fluids by deriving fluid properties and associated uncertainty in the predicted fluid properties based on downhole data, and generating answer products of interest based on differences in the fluid properties. Measured data are used to compute levels of contamination in downhole fluids using an oil-base mud contamination monitoring (OCM) algorithm. Fluid properties are predicted for the fluids and uncertainties in predicted fluid properties are derived. A statistical framework is provided for comparing the fluids to generate, in real-time, robust answer products relating to the formation fluids and reservoirs thereof. Systematic errors in measured data are reduced or eliminated by preferred sampling procedures.

  • Patent number: 6981888
Abstract: A lockable electric power cord adapter has a unitary housing containing male plug blade receiving member therein wherein each blade receiving member has a pivotable locking member mounted thereon. The blade receiving member has a hole therein for allowing a barbed end of the locking member to pass therethrough and engage a hole in the male plug blade in the locking position. An actuator has actuating lugs thereon which pivot the locking members to an unlocked position when the actuating member is pushed against a biasing spring.

  • Publication number: 20050243330
Abstract: Three dimensional configurations of a portion of an object (12), such as a patient's tooth, are determined using intensity patterns produced by a projection unit (20) and detected by a sensor unit (22). In some embodiments, the intensity patterns are produced using a set of slides (16A,16B,16C), e.g., a set of photographic slides, while in others they are produced using a transmissive liquid crystal device (60) or a single slide (16) which is moved by a piezoelectric translator (64). Methods and apparatus for reducing the effects of ambient light are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5664995
Abstract: An environmental enclosure apparatus is presented with air flow control and air balancing. The apparatus includes a housing having a work chamber, multiple adjustable fans for moving air into the work chamber, a filter for filtering particulate from the air moving into the chamber and a control mechanism for controlling each of the multiple adjustable fans. The control mechanism is responsive to a sensor which determines a change in position of at least one component within the work chamber. The at least one component could comprise a work product, a work tool or other product handling device. Air balancing is achieved through the provision of multiple chases within the enclosure, some of which have inlets at a bottom of the enclosure for drawing in external air and some of which have openings internal to the work chamber adjacent to a work surface for facilitating air flow balancing.

  • Patent number: 5388559
Abstract: An induction regulator for an internal combustion engine comprises at least one perforated element for allowing passage of fuel/air mixture therethrough, at least one open top reservoir for retaining excess unvaporized fuel and a closed loop supporting strip which is coupled to the perforated element. The closed loop is mounted between opposed flanges of the engine manifold which is downstream of the engine's carburetor. The regulator improves the atomization of the fuel as it is processed through the manifold and carburetor, thereby leading to improved fuel consumption and reduced exhaust pollution. The continuous closed loop supporting strip provides for secure attachment of the regulator to the manifold, as well as allows for easier adjustment of the regulator with respect to the manifold.

  • Patent number: 4640207
Abstract: A sewing machine operating station which cooperates with an overhead conveyor system having a number of trolleys which convey partly-formed garments between working stations, each trolley having a delivery arm from which garments can be suspended, and delivered to a working station. Each working station comprises a table, a sewing machine mounted on the table, and a working surface adjacent to the sewing machine and onto which a partly-formed garment can be placed in order to undergo a sewing operation. An inverted L-shaped guide is mounted on the table and can be coupled-up with the delivery arm of a trolley so as to guide a supply of partly-formed garments, suspended therefrom, to a position adjacent to the working surface.
