Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for providing layer-2 connectivity through a non-routed ground segment network, are described. A system includes a non-autonomous gateway in communication with a satellite configured to relay data packets. The non-autonomous gateway is configured to receive the data packets from the satellite at layer-1 (L1) of the OSI-model, generate a plurality of virtual tagging tuples within the layer-2 packet headers of the plurality of data packets. The non-autonomous gateway is further configured to transmit, at layer-2 (L2) of the OSI-model, the virtually tagged data packets. Each of the packets may include a virtual tagging tuple and an entity destination. The system further includes a L2 switch in communication with the non-autonomous gateway. The L2 switch may be configured to receive the data packets and transmit the data packets to the entity based on the virtual tuples associated with each of the data packets.

  • Publication number: 20180139229
Abstract: In one embodiment, a profiling engine analyzes DNS transaction data that is logged by a recursive resolver to generate profiling results that are used to manage network activity. In operation, the profiling engine computes scores based on the DNS transaction data and scoring criteria. The profiling engine may compute any number of scores at any level of granularity. For example, the profiling engine may compute a score for each source IP address that is associated with the DNS transaction data. Subsequently, the profiling engine generates profiling results based on the scores and profiling criteria. Notably, DNS queries are typically the first step of longer transaction chains that result in the transfer of data to and from the network. Consequently, the profiling engine may provide more timely and comprehensive insight into network activities than conventional network management tools that analyze data at layers that are further down transaction chains.

  • Publication number: 20180138902
Abstract: An inverter for an electric vehicle drive has a bridge including a plurality of power switching devices having respective insulated gate terminals and emitter terminals. A PWM circuit determines switching commands for controlling the bridge. A plurality of gate drivers receive the switching commands and provide gate drive signals to respective gate terminals. A plurality of gate capacitors are each thermally coupled to a respective switching device and are electrically connected between the respective gate and emitter terminals. Each gate capacitor has a negative temperature coefficient adapted to counter changes in a switching speed of the switching devices over a predetermined range of temperature. As a result, a consistent switching speed is maintained so that power loss and switching device reliability are optimal across the full temperature range.

  • Publication number: 20180136144
Abstract: The system enables remote inspection of an object, such as an underwater steel pile, using a plurality of video cameras. The cameras are positioned on a frame along a plane substantially perpendicular to the axis of the object and spaced apart so as to enable inspection of the circumference of the object. Moving the frame along the surface of the object enables a video of the entire surface area of the object to be made. A plurality of wheels are mounted to the frame to provide rolling contact with the surface of the object and to cause the cameras to remain a fixed distance from the surface of the object. A plurality of springs are mounted between the frame and the wheels to further ensure smooth movement of the frame. A plurality of lights mounted to the frame illuminate the surface of the object during the Inspection process.
