  • Publication number: 20160003468
Abstract: A system is shown for providing domestic hot water for potable use. The energy source is a steam powered heat exchanger. Water is heated in a heat engine package including the heat exchanger, a temperature operated pump and a condensate control valve. The heat package works in conjunction with a water storage package including a water storage tank and an electronic controller which controls the operation of the pump and condensate control valve. The electronic controller is operated so that the control of steam supplied to the system and flow of water through the heat exchanger ensures that steam is only present in the heat exchanger when there is a predetermined high flow rate of water.

  • Publication number: 20160001000
Abstract: A system and method of determining the estimated glomerular filtration rate of the kidneys of a patient. The system and method obtains patient medical data, determines constants based on the patient medical data and using exactly one of the MDRD equation or the Cockroft-Gault equation, and determines the estimated glomerular filtration rate based on a relationship of measured creatinine levels and the determined constants. The estimated glomerular filtration rate is used to determine the dose of a medication of a type filtered by the kidneys, determine a temporal correlation of the introduction of a drug into a patient with changes in kidney function, determine the administration rate for dosing intravenous fluids, determine the efficacy of a medical treatment, and determine kidney function after transplantation or injury.

  • Publication number: 20160000043
Abstract: The invention comprises a novel pet puzzle toy and food dispenser in which treats are located in receptacles wherein retrieval requires the pet to both spin and rock the puzzle in order to obtain the food. Much like a child's teeter totter, the food will end up in the receptacle with the greater weight as a result of pressure applied by a pet. The pet is both rewarded and entertained.

  • Publication number: 20160006382
Abstract: Controlling a stepper motor. A stepper motor is driven towards an index position. An attempt is made to stop the stepper motor on the index position in a fashion that would ordinarily cause the stepper motor to ring at the index position. Characteristics of one or more subsequent pulses that would counteract the ringing are determined. The one or more determined subsequent pulses are issued to the stepper motor.

  • Publication number: 20160003957
Abstract: Method for estimating source signature of a marine seismic source array in a naturally band-limited subsurface region, for designature processing of resulting seismic data. Direct arrivals identified in the streamer receivers' records (131) provide a far-field estimate of the source signature, provided that the subsurface naturally limits frequencies to below the first notch frequency in the amplitude response of the seismic streamer receiver array. Processing of the direct arrivals may include move out or alignment correction (132), signal enhancement (133), summing of direct arrival traces over all offsets (134), windowing or tapering of direct arrivals (135), and deterministic corrections to the combined direct arrivals to compensate for ghosting and streamer array effects (136).
