  • Publication number: 20200299585
Abstract: A continuous bubbling fluid bed process converts biomass feedstocks into energy/heat, engineered biochar particles (including nanoparticles) and a vapor stream of organic compounds. The products have a multitude of applications determined by the specific conditions at which the process was operated, specifically controlling: temperature, catalysts, residence time, element and compound concentrations, and withdraw of products from various points in the system. The introduction of air, steam, and various gases into the vessel at selected locations and at controlled rates enables the economic, dependable and consistent production of these products.

  • Patent number: 9711317
Abstract: The invention relates to air ionization modules with ionization tubes removably arranged in mounts and to a support comprising the mounts. The air ionization modules are characterized in particular in that as little condensation as possible occurs while enriching an air flow with ions. For this purpose, the support has two mutually spaced plates, a first plate being an assembly plate and a second plate being a circuit board comprising the mounts. Furthermore, a body made of a heat-insulating material is located between the plates such that the second plate is arranged so as to be heat-insulated relative to the first plate. The air ionization module is used to generate ions in an air flow for at least one inner room of a building. Ionized air leads to a separation of multiple odor-causing molecules, an eradication of microorganisms, a degradation of volatile gaseous hydrocarbons, and a reduction of the oxide potential of the air, for example.

  • Publication number: 20080226480
Abstract: A vacuum pump includes first, second, third and fourth pump stages. Each pump stage has a trochoidal-shaped cavity and a rotor that rotates within the respective cavity. Each cavity has a volume determined by the depth of the cavity and a generally corresponding thickness of the rotor. The fourth stage has a largest volume and receives gas at an input pressure. The fourth stage outputs the gas to the third stage at a second pressure higher than the input pressure. The cavity of each successive stage (third, second and first) has a smaller volume and outputs the gas at a higher pressure than the previous stage. The last (first) stage outputs the gas to the atmosphere. The rotors in the stages rotate about a common pump shaft. Each rotor has a multiple vertices that follow the inner perimeter surface of the respective cavity without contact and without requiring additional seals.

  • Patent number: 6837112
Abstract: A capacitance diaphragm gauge (CDG) for measuring pressure includes a flush diaphragm mounted to a body structure via a shim or other raised perimeter portion. The diaphragm and the shim are welded to the body structure while the diaphragm is maintained at an elevated temperature. Contraction of the diaphragm as it cools pretensions the diaphragm to substantially reduce hysteresis effects. An electrode advantageously includes two portions with one portion providing excellent bonding characteristics and the other portion having temperature characteristics corresponding to the body structure and the diaphragm. An alternative CDG includes two identical electrodes with a first electrode positioned proximate to the center of the diaphragm and with a second electrode positioned proximate to the perimeter of the diaphragm. The second electrode provides a second capacitance signal that is used to compensate for changes in capacitance between the diaphragm and the first electrode caused by temperature changes.

  • Patent number: 5818589
Abstract: To measure absolute rotations in several directions in space with the aid of interferometers, one interferometer is required for each direction in space. According to the invention, it is proposed to supply a device consisting of several interferometers from a common light source and to switch only the phase modulation impressed on the light rather than the light paths, using time-division multiplexing. The output signals from the interferometers are detected and evaluated with a single detector and evaluating unit.
