  • Patent number: 4612238
Abstract: Reinforced thermoplastic polymer composite sheets, formable into smooth, shaped objects in a stamping process. The composite sheet is produced by laminating together (1) a first layer of thermoplastic resin containing short glass fibers and a mineral filler such as kaolin, (2) a backing reinforcing layer comprising a long glass mat impregnated by thermoplastic resin and (3) optionally a third layer similar to said first layer. The long glass mat is positioned within the reinforcing layer during impregnation, whereby the mat becomes encased in a resin matrix.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 8, 1983
Date of Patent: September 16, 1986
    Assignee: Allied Corporation
Inventors: Michael P. DellaVecchia, Joseph E. Mackey, Albert H. Steinberg
  • Patent number: 4269884
Abstract: Reinforced thermoplastic polymer composite sheets, formable into smooth, shaped objects in a stamping process. The composite sheet is produced by laminating together (1) a first layer of thermoplastic resin containing short nonsiliceous fibers and a mineral filler such as kaolin, (2) a backing reinforcing layer comprising a long nonsiliceous fiber mat impregnated by thermoplastic resin and (3) optionally a third layer similar to said first layer. The long fiber mat is positioned within the reinforcing layer during impregnation, whereby the mat becomes encased in a resin matrix.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 10, 1979
Date of Patent: May 26, 1981
    Assignee: Allied Chemical Corporation
Inventors: Michael P. DellaVecchia, Joseph E. Mackey, Albert H. Steinberg
  • Patent number: 4255219
Abstract: A thermoplastic sheet material useful in forming multilayer composites, said sheet material being formed of at least one layer comprising polyepsiloncaprolactam and about 0.05 to 1 percent by weight, based upon the weight of the polyepsiloncaprolactam, of a dibasic carboxylic acid or anhydride or esters thereof and at least one reinforcing mat of long glass fibers encased within said layer.

    Filed: August 28, 1978
Date of Patent: March 10, 1981
    Assignee: Allied Chemical Corporation
