  • Patent number: 11927616
Abstract: A method for measuring alpha particle emissions may include obtaining a wafer emission rate, wherein the wafer emission rate is measured with a counter. The method may further include covering the wafer with a metal mesh grounded to a cathode of the counter wherein the metal mesh is grounded to the cathode outboard of the wafer and obtaining a mesh and wafer emission rate, wherein the mesh and wafer emission rate is measured with the counter. The method may further include replacing the wafer with a wafer carcass, obtaining a wafer carcass and mesh emission rate, and calculating a wafer carcass emissivity.

  • Publication number: 20230124917
Abstract: The present subject matter addresses a process and testing procedures for establishing a baseline medical status and tracking changes to an individual's immune system with exposure to impact events over time. In particular, the processes described herein establish a baseline medical status for the individual and, through periodic or otherwise initiated medical sampling, map the changes and development of an individual's immune system using biomarkers for exposures. These biomarkers are cataloged as part of an individual medical profile and can assist in bio-surveillance efforts to identify biomarkers for global under-reported and under-researched pathogens through the study of individuals originating from or visiting highly infectious areas. In particular, the present subject matter relates to a method for the diagnosis of an impact event to physiology as well as a system for implementing such analysis and providing treatment options and alerts.

  • Patent number: 8949526
Abstract: A method is used in reserving storage space in data storage systems. A set of logical units (LUs) predefined as file based storage hardware specific LUs are reserved in a restricted access storage space of a block based storage system. The restricted access storage space is accessed by a file based storage system for storing information required for initializing the file based storage system. The file based storage system is initialized using the information stored in the file based storage hardware specific LUs.

  • Patent number: 8715470
Abstract: Anode and cathode separator plates are suitable for use in ion pumps for converting an input stream such as reformate into a pressurized and purified hydrogen-rich gas stream. The plates may include a single cathode outlet opening forming a portion of cathode output gas manifold, an anode inlet opening forming a portion of an inlet gas stream manifold and being sized larger than inlet cathode outlet opening, the distance of the anode inlet opening to an edge of the plate being less than the distance of the cathode outlet opening from an edge of the plate, and the size of the fluid flow channel of the anode separator plate being smaller than the size of the fluid flow channel of the cathode separator plate. Methods for forming the plates and infrastructure systems are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7693901
Abstract: A vertical search engine may rank items based on both the quality of data associated with each item and the popularity of each item. The vertical search engine may access data associated with items from a variety of different sources, including feed sources and crawl sources. Data quality inputs are determined for each item based on the quality of the data associated with each respective item. In addition, popularity inputs are determined for each item based on user interest in each respective item. A global rankings score is then calculated for each item based on the data quality inputs and popularity inputs for each respective item. The global ranking score may be used to order search results for search queries in such a way that items from feed data and items from crawl data may be displayed in a unified manner, rather than being segregated by data source.

  • Publication number: 20080176136
Abstract: An electrochemical cell includes a flow plate and a seal that is contact with the flow plate. The seal forms an outer boundary of a sealed region to contain a reactant flow. The flow plate includes an opening that is located out of the sealed region to communicate leakage from the sealed region to an exhaust flow of the cell.

  • Patent number: 4431534
Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed for separating a multiphase liquid mixture of lighter and heavier liquids which includes a caisson into which the liquid mixture is introduced. A surge plate extends horizontally across the interior of the caisson dividing it into upper and lower sections. The lower section forms a reservoir for receiving the liquid mixture. A wier plate extends vertically from the surge plate forming a reservoir and a spillover bucket chamber in the upper section for the lighter liquid. An opening in the surge plate communicates the lower and upper section reservoirs. Means are provided for supplying liquids to the lower section reservoir and for removing the lighter liquid from the bucket chamber.
