  • Patent number: 4892482
Abstract: A gingival tissue retraction cord made, in the disclosed embodiment, of strands impregnated with suitable therapeutic preparations is stiffened with a stiffener strand, in the described example a copper wire threaded through the core of the cord. The stiffener is made of material which provides the cord with deformability, i.e. a feature whereby the cord can be bent but retains the bent or deformed state.

  • Patent number: 4828496
Abstract: Endodontic core and post are disclosed, forming an integral unit of which the post, adapted to be anchored in the respective root canal, is provided with, preferably, four wings perforated to allow passage of cement or the like through same in order to enhance the strength of embedding of the post in the root canal. The radial wings of the post are disposed each in a recess which is reamed by utilizing a special guiding post which is also a part of the present invention. In order to further enhance the strength of the bond between the core and the post in the respective root canal, an extension beam, preferably of a cross-shaped cross-sectional configuration, is adhesively secured to the free end of the post to form a "winged" extension of the post itself. The wings of the beam extension are also perforated for the same reason.

  • Patent number: 4382785
Abstract: A disposable dental impression tray is provided in its bottom with a number of inlets for injection of the impression material, preferably one inlet at each tooth. Each inlet has a connecting member, preferably defining a conical opening snugly receiving a tubular nip at the discharge end of a syringe. The syringe can thus be removably applied at any selected inlet of the tray to substantially reduce the pressure required for an accurate impression of the required area, as compared with known impression trays having only a single opening for injecting the impression material to obtain impression of several teeth, which often produces relatively poor impressions of the teeth remote from the opening. The readily detachable connection between the syringe and the tray provides for quick and convenient selective injection at the desired location. The tray is preferably produced from a generally transparent plastic material by injection molding and can thus be made as a disposable element.

  • Patent number: 4378211
Abstract: A combined dental impression tray with a syringe is provided, wherein the communication between the syringe and the tray is effected, in the most preferred embodiment, by way of a side opening in the wall of the barrel of the syringe. The opening communicates with the bottom section of the tray and is very short compared to the diameter or cross-sectional area of the passage for the impression material. The opening is arranged such that it can be closed by the piston of the syringe while a first impression of the tissue area is taken. A device detachably secured to the tray apparatus is also provided to facilitate cutting out of a portion of the dental mixture, the cutting device being preferably of the type of a reciprocating tubular cutting die whose edge engages the bottom wall of the tray at a close spacing about the said opening.

  • Patent number: 4340368
Abstract: A hand held power tool, particularly of the type of a dental handpiece or the like is provided with power shut-off means disposed directly within the handle. The shut-off means is mechanically connected with a suspension means for suspending the hand piece or the like power tool such that the weight of the tool shuts off power supply to the tool. In a particularly preferred embodiment, a dental handpiece is disclosed wherein the suspension means is a magnet, whereby the handpiece can be suspended on any ferromagnetic surface without having to reach to a suspension fork which, in the known devices, is itself associated with a shut-off valve. The basic idea of the invention has broad application in many different fields of technology.

  • Patent number: 4230454
Abstract: A dentistry kit for tooth extraction consisting of a vise-type grip member having a joint member engaged by a forked end of a lever whose convexly curved fulcrum surface rests against a planar base plate located on teeth adjacent to the extracted tooth. The connection between the grip member and the lever is thus of the type generally resembling an angularly loose swivel joint. The grip member has two hemispherical tips, for engaging correspondingly shaped indentations drilled in the buccal and lingual side of the tooth. The tool set combines a virtually ultimate simplicity of the elements, resulting in an easy cleaning and disinfection, with an improved operation mainly due to the fact that the extreme pull force can be delicately gauged, while the direction of the force can also be changed by displacing the point of contact between the fulcrum and the base plate.
