  • Patent number: 5482980
Abstract: A method for the preparation of a flexible, open-celled, urethane foam which comprises reacting at least one isocyanate and at least one polyol in the presence of at least one catalyst and an epoxidized soybean oil, wherein each polyol is a saturated polyether polyol. A further aspect of the present invention provides a pre-formation method for the preparation of a flexible, open-celled, urethane foam, the method comprising reacting at least one isocyanate and at least one polyol in the presence of at least one catalyst and about 7 phR to about 25 phR of an epoxidized soybean oil, wherein each polyol is a saturated polyester polydol. Flexible, open-celled urethane foams prepared in accordance with the methods set forth previously are also included in the present invention.

  • Patent number: 4605684
Abstract: Flexible polyurethane foams having improved electrostatic properties are provided by incorporating into the reaction mixture before foaming an antistatic additive composition comprising a blend of a quaternary ammonium compound selected from the group consisting of soya dimethyl ethyl ammonium ethylsulfate, soya dimethyl ethyl ammonium phosphate, and mixtures thereof, and a plasticizer composition selected from the group consisting of N-ethyl-o- and p-toluene sulfonamide, o- and p-toluene sulfonamide, and tetrakis (2 chloroethyl) ethylene diphosphate, and mixtures thereof.

  • Patent number: 4317889
Abstract: Flexible, resilient, polyurethane foam having improved flame retardancy and intumescent properties is prepared from a reaction mixture comprising a polyester polyol, an organic polyisocyanate, a blowing agent, a surfactant, a catalyst, a melamine derivative wherein one or more hydrogens have been replaced by a methylol and/or lower alkoxymethyl group, a flame retardant, and hydrated alumina. In a preferred embodiment, the hydrated alumina is predispersed in a mixture comprising the melamine derivative, the flame retardant, and a low-viscosity linear polyester polyol.
