    Abstract: A service valve for a refrigerant system comprising a valve body and a system port. The valve body has at least one fluid passage integrated therein including a longitudinal bore. An orifice is located at one end of the bore. An annular protrusion axially extends from the valve body and is symmetrical about the orifice. A valve seat generally surrounds the orifice. The system port includes a valve stem having a first end, a second end, and a bore integrated within. The stem is axially movable within the annular protrusion between at least a first position in which the orifice is closed when the valve stem first end sealingly abuts the valve seat and a second position in which the orifice is open when the valve stem first end is offset from the valve seat. The valve stem is restricted from moving further away from the valve body by the annular protrusion.

    Abstract: A service valve assembly, for use in a split air conditioning/heat pump system, with a single valve block having a plurality of passages, a first valve and a second valve. The assembly includes a first cavity within the block with a first valve holding passage, for conducting gaseous refrigerant inside the valve block. The first valve includes a first through passage radially extending both through the first valve as well as from an outer surface of a first side of the block to an outer surface of a side opposite the first side. A first charging passage extends from the valve block outer surface to the first through passage. The valve block also includes a second cavity, including a second valve holding passage, for conducting liquid refrigerant within the block. The second valve includes a second through passage extending both through the second valve as well as from the outer surface of the valve block first side to the outer surface of the opposite side.

The female body includes at least two passageways having frangible diaphragms. The male coupling portion includes at least two male coupling halves having frangible diaphragms. Cutting devices are positioned in the passageways of the female body. As the male coupling portion is moved toward the female body by a bracket and fastening device, the diaphragms are ruptured to allow fluid flow between the lines.

The valve includes an actuating stem for controlling the flow of fluid through the valve, a valve member with a positioning formation and an opening for permitting fluid flow, a valve body portion, and at least one insert or compressor for retaining the valve member within the valve body portion. The valve body portion is comprised of a formable material—such as a metal—that is formed about the valve member in connection with an applied load. The valve body portion further includes a first open end with a first diameter; a second open end with a second diameter that is sufficiently large enough to permit insertion of the valve member; a stem opening for receiving the actuation stem; and an internal member-receiving portion for receiving the valve member in proximity with the stem opening.

    Abstract: A low spill anti-check fluid coupling for pressurized fluid systems is disclosed. The coupling includes a female part and a male part. The female part has a body member and a sleeve mounted for axial movement within said body member. A spring biased female valve is positioned within the body member. A handle mounted for rotation on said body member is operatively connected to the sleeve for opening said female valve to initiate fluid flow through the coupling. An anti-check spring is operatively connected to the female valve for retaining said female valve is an open position when the fluid coupling is in an open fluid flow condition.

    Abstract: A pressure relief adapter includes a body and a slideable sleeve positioned in a passageway thereof and cooperating therewith and with O-rings to define a sealed chamber containing ambient air or other gas. The slideable sleeve has an enlarged head at one end. A compression spring in the chamber urges the sleeve toward the end having the enlarged head. Upon introduction of hydraulic fluid under pressure into the passageway and sleeve, the hydraulic fluid acting on the enlarged head urges the sleeve in a direction compressing the spring and reducing the size of the chamber thereby relieving pressure in the fluid flow system in which the adapter is positioned.

    Abstract: A female coupling member includes a body portion, a slideable sleeve positioned in the body portion and an axially extending stem valve sealingly engageable with the sleeve. Axial movement of the sleeve relative to the stem valve opens the female coupling member to the flow of fluid. The stem valve is provided with a cavity sized to receive a protruding nose of a male member to be attached thereto. The slideable sleeve and the stem valve are designed to receive the male coupling member including its flat insertion end and protruding nose with minimal air inclusion and minimal fluid loss upon disengagement.
