  • Publication number: 20100280730
Abstract: Operation of gas turbine engines and in particular gas turbine engines utilised for aircraft, in an efficient manner is a desired objective. Thus engine efficiency is typically determined through use of an engine performance parameter. One such engine performance parameter is with regard to specific fuel consumption. However, such parameters may vary as a result of inherent deterioration with regard to the engine. By utilising a computational model to determine variations in the performance parameter such as the specific fuel consumption changes as a result of such inherent engine degradation can be accommodate. Thus, such degradation may not swamp actual changes in fuel consumption or the engine performance parameter which are indicative of changes of engine efficiency.

  • Patent number: 7817650
Abstract: A data communication transmitting node is provided, the transmitting node comprising: a plurality of buffers for storing data from a respective plurality of input data streams; means for monitoring an occupancy level of each of the plurality of buffers to detect if the occupancy level is sufficient to provide a complete data block to the transmission stream; and a transmission controller operable to select, in turn, a buffer from the plurality of buffers to output a data block to a transmission data stream, the selection being performed according to a buffer selection order. If the buffer selected by the transmission controller is detected to have an insufficient occupancy level when selected, a dummy data block is supplied to the data transmission stream in place of a data block from the selected buffer.

  • Patent number: 7672414
Abstract: A data communication system transmits data between a transmitting node and a receiving node. The transmitting node may transmit data from streamed data signals across respective transmission paths of a communication link, transmit timing information for base clock signals across the communication link, and transmit configuration data. The configuration data may associate transmission paths and corresponding base clock signals. The receiving node may receive data from the transmission paths of the communication link and process the timing information for the base clock signals in response to the configuration data to generate a respective sample clock signal corresponding to each respective transmission path. Moreover, the receiving node may associate the sample clock with data from the respective transmission path depending upon the configuration data to recover the streamed data signals.

  • Publication number: 20090293550
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a washing machine with improvements to the hardware for direct steam injection. One improvement is a steam delivery tube (herein called a sparge tube) that penetrates a side wall above the water level, but releases steam below the water level. One improvement is a steam delivery tube (herein called a sparge tube) that penetrates a rotating side wall above the water level, but releases steam below the water level. Another improvement is the use of a curved sparge tube that can conform within and between the contours of (typically cylindrical) rotating side walls. Another improvement is a sparge tube that releases steam in a direction at least substantially parallel to the central axis of the washing chamber. Another improvement is a temperature probe that penetrates a rotating side wall above the water level, but extends and measures temperature below the water level. A controller controls the open/shut status of steam valve.

  • Publication number: 20070107918
Abstract: A folding system is provided for folding at least one wing extending from a central chassis of each of a plurality of absorbent articles formed from a continuous moving web moving in a longitudinal direction. The folding system has a wing-folding conveyor and at least one elongated, folding plow, which has an entrance end, an exit end and an inner edge that define a twist axis. The folding plow has a contoured surface having a configuration defined by a twist angle that increases along the twist axis from zero degrees near the entrance end to 180 degrees near the exit end. The wing-folding conveyor moves the central chassis along the inner edge of the folding plow and the wing slides against the contoured surface from the entrance end to the exit end, such that the wing folds around the central chassis near the inner edge.

  • Publication number: 20060001933
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing holographic stereograms. Holographic stereograms have made possible the creation of holograms of both real objects in natural or studio lighting and virtual objects created using three-dimensional graphics. There are several approaches for creating holograms from digital graphics. This invention discusses the application of the light valve to the process along with other related developments. Artists can now produce high quality inexpensive, medium-format holograms using this direct-link to digital media. Future developments will lead to even higher resolution Digital Image-Light-Amplifier (D-ILA) systems.
