  • Patent number: 9108336
Abstract: Wood is treated with at least one photocatalytically degradable organic substance, organic compound or at least one biocide to reduce the contamination by organic substances, organic compounds and/or biocides from wood or wood-base materials into the immediate surroundings, in particular in closed spaces. The wood treatment agent contains at least one photocatalyst which brings about the degradation of the at least one organic substance, organic compound and/or the at least one biocide. The application/introduction of the at least one photocatalyst to or into the wood can take place together with or after the introduction of the wood preservation agent.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 24, 2012
Date of Patent: August 18, 2015
Assignee: Kurt Obemeier GMBH & Co. KG.
Inventors: Michael Pallaske, Peter Jüngel, Sascha Hellkamp
  • Publication number: 20140099349
Abstract: A water-based wood protection agent having a biocide-containing aqueous emulsion that contains at least one biocide active ingredient and at least one cationic emulsifier, and the at least one biocidal active ingredient is emulsified by the at least one cationic emulsifier to form active ingredient-emulsifier particles, which are each enclosed by an at least single-layered polyelectrolyte coating, so that the net charge of the enclosed particle is zero or negative.

  • Patent number: 6248159
Abstract: A wood protecting agent, particularly for the protection of wood against dry-wood-destroying insects is provided. The wood protecting agent comprises a wood preservative carrier and the combination of at least one insect juvenile hormone or its analogue or mimetic with at least one an ecdysone agonist or its analogue or mimetic in a concentration of 0.5 to 0.00005 % by weight, related to the entire formulation, and optionally, one or more triazole compounds to achieve a synergistic increase in effectiveness of said formulation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 9, 1999
Date of Patent: June 19, 2001
    Assignee: Rohm and Haas Company
    Inventors: Heinrich Poppen, Michael Pallaske
  • Patent number: 6123756
Abstract: The invention concerns a wood-protecting agent, particularly for the protection of wood against dry-wood destroying insects, which comprises a wood preservative carrier and (I) the combination of at least one insect juvenile hormone or their analogue or mimetics selected from the group consisting of fenoxycarb, pyriproxyphene, kinoprene, methoprene and hydroprene with an ecdysone agonist selected from the group consisting of tebufenozide, halofenozide, tebufenozide analogue, azadirachtin and azadiractanin, each in a concentration of 0.5 to 0.00005% by weight, related to the entire formulation, and optionally, (ii) one or more triazole compounds to achieve a synergistic increase in effectiveness of said formulation.

  • Patent number: 5303502
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the preventive protection of materials against pests permanently and/or temporarily living in the soil, in particular, termites. One or more barriers of sharp-edged inert particles of a particle size screened at from 0.001 to 30 mm and/or spherical inert particles having a diameter of 0.5 to 5.0 mm are arranged around and/or in the object to be protected.

  • Patent number: 4941356
Abstract: The process of detecting the presence of insects or insect larvae in a solid substrate, e.g. wood, in which the behavioral patterns of the insects to be detected are established. These behavioral patterns are compared to actual noise and vibration patterns detected in the substrate, after extraneous noise is filtered from the actually detected information and the data has been converted to analog form. The actual analysis is performed by a microcomputer. The microcomputer analysis yields an output indicative of damage or movement activity or lack of such activity.
