  • Publication number: 20220266462
Abstract: A shears upper finger grip has a lower substantially flat inner surface arranged in a transverse plane substantially normal to a cutting plane and dimensioned and configured to enable substantially full insertion of a thumb metacarpal bone from a right lateral side and for receiving the ball of the thumb to enable the thumb to be moved to a position on a left lateral side to an orientation substantially parallel to the cutting plane and to position the hand's thenar eminence into abutment against the flat inner surface while positioning at least exterior right lateral portions of the upper finger grip in abutment against the palm beyond the hand's thenar crease and into the region of at least one of the hand's palmar creases to enable the thenar eminence and palm of the hand to oppose the forces applied by the fingers acting on the lower finger grip.

  • Publication number: 20120304473
Abstract: A collapsible bolt cutter includes compound levers a first lever of which includes elongate handles and a second lever of which includes cutting jaws for transmitting a force applied to the handles to the cutting jaws with a mechanical advantage when the handles are urged to move towards each other. The handles are each split along their length to form free handle portions articulated to the second levers. Locks or latches a provided for selectively locking the handle portions in the aligned operative positions during normal use while being manually releasable to release the free handle portions to allow the free handle portions to be pivoted to a second folded position when not in use and for storage.

  • Patent number: 7699197
Abstract: A belt utility system for carrying up to a large number of objects includes an elongated flexible strap for removably supporting a large number of plurality of receptacles or holders for objects, at least one holder or receptacle for an object, as well as a way of removably attaching the receptacle(s) or holder(s) to the strap. This means of attachment includes a finger-gripping portion for facilitating both the simultaneous gripping of holder(s) or receptacle(s) for objects and the detachment, by the user, by generally lifting with the fingers, of these holder(s) or receptacle(s), in a generally upward direction. The utility system can also include a snap-lock connector connected to the strap and to the receptacle or holder, and a releasing tab or button near or on the gripping portion for releasing the connector portions from each other when pressed by the user's finger substantially at the same time as the user lifts the finger-gripping portion.

  • Patent number: 7686196
Abstract: A carrying clip for detachably connecting an accessory to a tool belt in the form of an elongate flexible strap defining an upper edge includes a gripping portion configured to be gripped by the fingers of a user and positioned in proximity, and positioned in proximity to the straps upper edge. The gripping portion is associated with and supports an accessory to be detachably connected to the strap. An attachment member, which may be in the form of a spring-clip or a snap-lock clip arrangement, is used for detachably connecting the gripping portion to the strap and for removing the gripping portion and associated accessory by engagement of the gripping portion with the finger of the user and lifting the gripping portion in a general upward direction relative to the strap.

  • Patent number: 6962002
Abstract: A multi-tape measuring tool has a recoil-type tape measure and a removable ruler-type measure stored in a single housing. Conventionally, a user, such as an architect or an engineer, would have to carry one retractable tape measure along with a separate smaller ruler-like measuring tool, the smaller tool being useful, for example, in more confined spaces. The measuring tool of the presenting invention provides both a retractable tape measure and a separate ruler-like measuring tool stored in a single, easily carried unit.
