Publication number: 20250183662Abstract: A data hub of a home automation system is powered by a power supply of at least one powered device of the home automation system that is connected to the data hub. By providing power to the data hub from the one of the devices that are connected to it, the need for a separate power source is eliminated. A method for powering a data hub of a home-automation system without bus power includes connecting at least two independently powered devices to device ports of the data hub. When the powered devices are connected to the ports, a voltage is detected by an internal power regulation, protection and distribution unit of the hub and disconnects bus power. A system for powering the data hub includes configuring the hub to receive power by devices connected thereto. When the hub receives power from the powered device, bus power is disconnected.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 1, 2023Publication date: June 5, 2025Applicant: SOMFY SYSTEMS INC.Inventors: TYLER REICH, TY SAVILLE, COREY BARNWELL, JOHN KAIN, MICHAEL PEARCE, RAHUL GORADIA

Publication number: 20180129750Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed whereby the context of user activity can be used to tailor the ambient information system. The method and apparatus use both short-term context such as recent activity and long-term context such as historical patterns to highlight specific content on channels or widgets that are likely to be of most immediate interest to the user. This contextual information provided by the framework can also be used to make intelligent decisions about how to tailor the user experience after a user has interacted with the item in question. Additionally, context information accumulated on one device such as a mobile phone can be broadcasted to other devices to influence the ambient information display application on a second device such as a desktop based on enabling remote access to the local context repository.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 5, 2018Publication date: May 10, 2018Inventors: Jehan Wickramasuriya, Craig Janssen, Nitya Narasimhan, Michael Pearce, Danie Stewart

Patent number: 8701795Abstract: A technique facilitates the drilling of deviated wellbores. A steerable drilling system is formed with a pair of components pivotably mounted with respect to each other. A removable strike ring is mounted to one of the steerable drilling system components and is positioned to engage a corresponding strike ring in a manner which limits the maximum pivot angle between the steerable drilling system components. By interchanging the removable strike ring with other removable strike rings, the maximum pivot angle can be adjusted in the field to accommodate drilling of a wider variety of deviated wellbores.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2011Date of Patent: April 22, 2014Assignee: Schlumberger Technology CorporationInventors: Christian Menger, Michael Pearce
