  • Patent number: 11303710
Abstract: During a process to discover local access information from a hotspot provider, a mobile device transmits, to an access node connected to a hotspot within a wireless local area network (WLAN), an Access Network Query Protocol (ANQP) request, where the request is for the local access information provided by the hotspot provider that is a provider of the hotspot. The mobile device receives, from the access node, an ANQP response containing the local access information from the hotspot provider. The local access information is presented to a user of the mobile device.

  • Publication number: 20220110078
Abstract: In some examples, a source device categorizes a plurality of messages for transmission to a recipient device, the plurality of messages comprising vehicle-related information. Based on the categorizing, the source device identifies selected messages of the plurality of messages to be aggregated. The source device aggregates the selected messages into a single transmission from the source device to the recipient device.

  • Publication number: 20220053414
Abstract: Network information may be discoverable without requiring a connection to that network. For example, Access Network Query Protocol (“ANQP”) may allow a device to discover information about a network prior to the device associating with that network. In other words, ANQP allows a network terminal to request additional network information prior to establishing network capability. The additional network information that may be discoverable includes network latency, cellular capabilities, hotspot capabilities, mobility capabilities, neighbor reports, station identification, and multiple hotspot session identification.

  • Patent number: 11246174
Abstract: Methods and systems for connecting a wireless device to a wireless network. Configuration information is received by an access point of the wireless network including a service identifier corresponding to a service provided through the wireless device and a credential associated with the wireless device. The access point advertises the service identifier to the wireless device. The access point receives from the wireless device an association request including a network identifier corresponding to the wireless network. The access point authenticates the wireless device based on the service identifier and the credential.

  • Patent number: 11240655
Abstract: A mobile device may transition between Extended Service Set (“ESS”) networks while maintaining the same internet protocol (“IP”) address while transitioning. The transition may occur seamlessly, such that a consumer never loses the network connection despite transitioning between networks. The mobile device may receive an IP address from a pool of addresses, such that the mobile device can keep that IP address as it is transitions between networks that each have access to the pool. The assignment of the IP address to the mobile device is from the pool of IP addresses rather than from the AP.
