Abstract: A light weight compact device used in a rail road track maintenance organization carried by a track inspector to measure the vertical difference in track or rail of the track under normal operating conditions of trains which does not obstruct the travel of trains over the tracks by using this device which is placed under the rail, locked in place to keep any part of the device from being struck by the wheel of the train or train equipment while still capable of measuring the vertical movement of the rail or track.
