The shingle portion is any weather resistant shingle material, such as slate, granite, limestone, etc., while the fastening portion is a lightweight and weather resistant material, such as aluminum sheet metal. Further, an insulating support can be positioned within the fastening portion to further support and insulate the LSA. Thus, the LSA provides lower roofing weight loads than solid material shingles with the same appearance and function.
