  • Patent number: 6963581
Abstract: A method and apparatus for adaptive service interworking include processing that begins by obtaining connection information of a receiving end-point network switch in response to receiving a setup message from a sending party. The setup message identifies a receiving party, which is operably coupled to the receiving end-point switch. Such connection information may be obtained by sending an enhanced traffic descriptor appended to the setup message and receiving an enhanced traffic descriptor that was appended to a connection message from the receiving end-point switch. The connection information is then interpreted to determine whether the receiving end-point switch is capable of supporting a transparent link. If the end-point network switch is capable of supporting the transparent link, the transparent link is established and utilized to transport data between the sending and receiving parties.

  • Patent number: 6926171
Abstract: A paint colorant dispenser for dispensing colorants into both large and small containers includes a cabinet for accommodating a plurality of color and canisters in fluid communication with a common dispense outlet. A container shelf unit is disposed in front of the cabinet and below the dispense outlet. The shelf unit includes a horizontal base disposed below the dispense outlet upon which large containers can rest. The shelf unit also includes a pivoting shelf which can pivot upward and provide a horizontal resting surface closer to the dispense outlet for smaller containers. A controller, keyboard and monitor are contained in a second modular cabinet that can be disposed on either side of the first cabinet. An additional modular cabinet can be provided for accommodating additional colorant canisters. A drip containment system is disposed in the modular shelf unit.

  • Publication number: 20050136853
Abstract: A self configuring multiple element portable electronic device (100) and method is provided. The device comprises at least a first electronic element (104) and a second electronic element (106) and a joint (112) connecting the first electronic element and the second electronic element, with the joint allowing movement in more than one plane of the first electronic element in relation to the second electronic element, wherein the self configuring multiple element portable electronic device is capable of self configuring an operational mode based on a relative position of the first electronic element with respect to the second electronic element. The method comprises the steps of detecting a relative position of the first electronic element relative to the second electronic element, and selecting an operational mode of the device based on the relative position.

  • Patent number: 6859776
Abstract: A network comprises a number of speech-enabled sites maintaining a number of voice pages. A central server on the network executes a voice browser which provides users with access to the sites using voice-activated hyperlinks. The server also maintains and brokers information associated with the users based on spoken dialogs between the users and the sites. In response to a user accessing a given ASR site, information about that user is provided by the server for use by that ASR site. The information is used by the ASR site to optimize a spoken dialog between the user and the ASR site by reducing the amount of information the user is required to provide during the dialog. Information about the user can thereby be shared between separate speech enabled sites, in a manner which is transparent to the user, in order to expedite the user's interaction with those sites.

  • Publication number: 20040240967
Abstract: A binding element that may he readily molded, and utilized to bind a range of sizes and thicknesses of stacks of sheets. The elements are molded in a flat sheets with elongated fingers extending from an elongated spine either as individual binding elements, or as an extended length that is then cut to size during an automated assembly process. The elongated fingers are inserted into the prepunched openings in the stack of sheets. The free ends of the fingers are then coupled to the spine, shortening the closed finger loop to an appropriate length for the thickness of the stack of sheets. The excess finger is cut from the finding element and discarded. The actual process steps may be performed in various orders, either sequentially or simultaneously.
