  • Patent number: 12640937
Abstract: Embodiments described herein provide techniques for securely validating firmware on a device using certificates and providing a mechanism for deprecating select certificates when a traditional certificate authority is unavailable or otherwise cannot be used. When a first firmware package is installed on the device, a first certificate in a first secure memory location is associated with an active status. Responsive to validation and installation of a second firmware package on the device, a second certificate in a second secure memory location on the device is associated with an active status. During a boot-up operation on the device, embodiments determine to use the second certificate to validate the second firmware package by starting at a predefined secure memory location and scanning backwards until a status of active is identified. The second firmware package on the device is then validated using the second certificate.

  • Publication number: 20250232044
Abstract: Embodiments described herein provide techniques for securely validating firmware on a device using keys and providing a mechanism for deprecating such keys when a traditional certificate authority is unavailable or otherwise cannot be used. When a first firmware package is installed on the device, a first public key in a first secure memory key location is associated with an active status. Responsive to installation of a second firmware package on the device, a second public key in a second secure memory key location on the device is associated with an active status. During a boot-up operation on the device, embodiments determine to use the second public key to validate the second firmware package by starting at a predefined secure memory key location and scanning backwards until a status of active is identified. The second firmware package on the device is then validated using the second public key.

  • Publication number: 20080043449
Abstract: One embodiment relates to an encased electrical component board interconnection system, including an audio/video related electrical component board encased within a housing, an interconnection panel disposed on an external surface of the housing, and an interconnection retaining system. The electrical interconnection panel facilitates the electrical coupling between the electrical component board and external electrical devices. The interconnection panel includes electrical couplers disposed on independently oriented coupling surfaces. The coupling surfaces may be oriented in a convex outward facing configuration to facilitate efficient coupling and may further include an intermediary positioned labeling surface. The interconnection retaining system releasably supports an elongated interconnection device connected to the electrical couplers at a particular three-dimensional orientation that minimizes visual obstruction of the electrical interconnection panel and maintains proper electrical connection.

  • Publication number: 20080013276
Abstract: One embodiment relates to an electrical component cooling system that facilitates convectional air flow. The system includes a set of electrical component boards, an inlet, an outlet, and a housing. The electrical component boards each include a plurality of electrical components and are oriented vertically. The inlet is disposed on the housing below the electrical component boards, and the outlet is disposed on the housing above the electrical component boards. The housing substantially encases the electrical component boards and further includes a plenum. The inlet enables ambient air to flow into the plenum disposed within an internal region of the housing. The plenum horizontally directs the air to locations vertically aligned with the regions between the electrical component boards to facilitate convectional air flow in the vertical direction. Heat transfer occurs between the electrical component boards and the air as it flows across the surfaces of the electrical component boards.

  • Publication number: 20080003854
Abstract: One embodiment relates to an encased electrical component board housing system, including an electrical component board encased within a housing. The housing includes an internal chassis, a base, and an intercoupled plurality of panels. The internal chassis supports the electrical component board within an internal region. The panels are selectively intercoupled so as to enclose the internal chassis. The panels are sequentially intercoupled to substantially audibly seal the intercoupling regions between the plurality of panels. The couplings between the panels include translation channels and coupling members extending into the internal chassis. The electrical component board includes audio and/or video functionality. A second embodiment relates to a method for substantially encasing an electrical component board within a housing.

  • Publication number: 20080002838
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention relates to a noise containment and vibration isolation system for integrated audio/video electrical components. The system includes a housing, an inlet, an outlet, an electrical component board, a noise containment system, and a mechanical isolation system. The noise containment system includes encasement of the electrical component board and baffling of the inlet and outlet air vents. Noise containment obstructs direct ambient air flow paths within the housing, thereby also impeding and obstructing the transmission path of air-based sound waves. The mechanical isolation system includes positioning dampening members between the housing and the electrical component board. The mechanical isolation system further includes positioning a dampening member between the housing and a supporting surface. Mechanical isolation minimizes the transmission of vibration-based sound waves between mechanical coupling points.

  • Publication number: 20070235963
Abstract: A storage container having a bin and a lid is provided. The bin has a base panel, a front panel and a rear panel extending upward from the base panel, and two side panels extending upward from the base panel and spanning between the front and rear panels. A storage space is defined by the volume above the base panel and between the side panel, the front panel and the rear panel. The side panel, front and rear panels flare outwardly, extend from the base panel, and define a storage space that is smaller in cross sectional area proximate the base panel than proximate upper ends of the side panel. The lid has a top panel with a perimeter and a lip extending downwardly from the perimeter, and the lip flares outwardly as it extends downwardly from the perimeter of the top panel to facilitate vertical nesting of a plurality of like lids.
