    Abstract: A prepolymer is prepared by reacting a mixture containing (a) at least one multifunctional compound, (b) at least one diisocyanate, and (c) at least one diol. The diol has a weight average molecular weight of at most 6000. The prepolymer, when reacted with an excess of water, forms a hydrogel polymer. The mixture of the prepolymer and water may be reaction molded, and used to form a contact lens.

    Abstract: A system which enables new data paths that form different network configurations to be constructed during the run time of the computer determines whether a given configuration specified by a user is legitimate, and if so, creates a data path. In operation, a user issues a command to open a data path containing a particular protocol module. In response, an open handler inquires whether the particular configuration specified by the user is proper. This inquiry is sent to individual configurators, which comprise shared libraries containing routines pertaining to the various protocols stored in the computer. A configurator responds to the inquiry if it contains information pertaining to the protocol identified by the user. The routines in the configurator also indicate whether the protocol module can be connected in a legitimate configuration. If it can, a data path is created.

    Abstract: Method and apparatus for adapting the volumetric flow rate measurement system taught by Yelderman in U.S. Pat. No. 4,507,974 to clinical environments by reducing the effects of physiological noise. Signal processing techniques are used to characterize the background noise power spectrum of the system under test so that the effect of noise aberrations on the measured data may be eliminated and so that the predominant periodicities of the background noise spectra may be avoided. The invention further cross-correlates the input data of the system with the corresponding ouput data of the system to determine weighting values for each input frequency so that data collected at noisy frequencies is discounted. Low frequency noise or drift is also removed from the output signal by fitting the average of the output data to a quadratic function which is then subtracted from the original output signal, point by point.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a method in the manufacture of FET single device memory cells and arrays for controlling a doped oxide diffusion profile and thereby controlling substrate diffusion and doped oxide diffusion source overlap and controlling the inherent formation of parasitic capacitance. This is accomplished by controlling the variation of four interrelated essential parameters in the production of a single device memory cell array with the consequent result of minimizing said parasitic capacitance encountered in certain overlap conditions and thereby maintaining and increasing device performance. Process conditions which are controlled relative to one another are the thickness of the doped oxide on a monocrystalline semiconductor silicon substrate, the amount of over etch carried out in the formation of a diffusion source island, the thickness of oxide formed on unprotected substrate areas during diffusion drive-in, and the depth of a particular diffusion into the substrate, known as X.sub.j.
